I have replaced the front USB unit on this Optiplex 320 after somebody mashed the USBs by careless use of a memory key. Now the usbs won't work. I have checked they're switched on in BIOS and every thing's connected properly, still no joy. All seems to be working in Device manager. All the back usbs are in use with a printer, an IWB etc, etc, so I'm stuck. Any ideas?

Ah yes now I realise what we're talking about. I had blanked this out because I had had a rep on the phone some time ago quoting me £20k for my school which gave me amnesia! I shall certainly look at that sort of system again as we are due for some sort of re-evaluation here. Thanks Peter

It's a set of mostly belkin acces points dotted round the school up near ceilings.

Hi Kim Thanks for your quick reply. That's what I thought. I've got to train staff on our new VLE and set up the infrastructure to do it. It will change i.e different numbers of laptops/OSes different days different rooms you name it.

Hi, We don't have a computer room in our SLD special school, but occasionally we need to use all of the laptops (10) together in the same room for staff training on the VLE. I'm wondering if there is a faster way of networking them, say with a switch, rather than relying on the school's Wifi. Anybody any ideas? Thanks

Hi, Our CCTV recorder box outputs on 192.168.1.4 and I want to send the pictures to an ip address, call it 2xx.2xx.3xx.1xx, using the above router This has been working in the past but has stopped working, because ( I think) the internal address changed from 192.168.1.3 to - 4. (Somebody else set it up) Now I can't get it to work. Every time I go to IP forwarding and type in the relevant addresses it fails because I put in the wrong netmask. I've tried leaving it blank and putting 255.255.255.0 and 0.0.0.0 with no joyfulness. Could somebody explain to me where I am going wrong?

Those of you who live in the East Midlands will know life is all a bit up in the air at the moment Synetrics have taken over from Fujitsu supplying EMBC connectivity except that the Netsweeper filtering has not yet migrated, and we are still logging in to the old login page in an attempt to get user level filtering. As a school, our default level is level 4. This stops children getting to google etc. But our staff want their user levels of 2 and 3. From just before the change to Synetrics, some of the machines in the school stopped getting the user level filtering applied. Today for example I found a laptop which would apply the filtering, so I could get google, and a desktop with the same proxy and DNS settings and which wouldn't apply the filtering and hence had Netsweeper block google out. Has this happened to any one else? How did you get round it? Peter

Unfortunately as yet we don't have a server- just a large Buffalo linkstation disk sitting on our network. So my understanding is I can't run CMS software that needs PHP and Apache etc? Yes, a bit dark ages, but...

Would like to show the contents of a folder within our intranet, while maintaining css formating to keep look and feel the same. Can anyone help?
