Your best bet with any tablet (iPad/Android etc) nowadays is to try and route them through a transparent proxy if possible. I'm going to have the same problem as you next week but I can't see how I'm gonna get a transparent proxy into place.

A lot of the time those values will be ignored in .htaccess. Make a script in your main web directory called info.php with the following code, go to the page and find the PHP Configuration line, it'll tell you which configuration file it's loading and what values it's reading.

Hey, I've just been looking into our DNS on our two DCs (one 2K3R2, other 2K8R2) and replication seems to be fine between the two... but there's loads of records that appear to be old, unneeded or not updated when DHCP gives the lease out to a different machine. For example, many of our netbooks have between 2 and 6 different DNS records for different IPs. I'm hesitant to delete any in case it's an active record but I was wondering if there's any way I can remove all old records and have it all be rebuilt automatically? Thanks

We just grab Windows 7 Enterprise w/ SP1 and deploy it out to everything... also remember if you're going down the KMS route and/or image deployment it'd be easier to plonk Enterprise onto everything.

Hey guys, We have EES licensing at our school and are looking to introduce some Macs as we replace teacher's laptops and I have a couple of Qs. - We're licensed for Office Pro, does this also carry over to MS Office for Mac, or does that have to be licensed separately? - Am I right in believing that if I wanted to bootcamp a Mac, we would have to purchase a 'base' Windows license before we could use our EES Enterprise license? I started rolling Win7 out to staff this year (one or two even asked for it, which surprised me!) and went down the offline files and domain account route... they have roaming profiles, with all profile directories (apart from Music and Video) redirected to directories on our servers. They have local administrator rights and I just have a VBS file on their desktop they run whenever they switch location. It's so much nicer finally having their machines on the domain in terms of management!

Particularly with the likes of RSAT nowadays.

I'd also like to know this... right now I just build staff laptops with our unencrypted image then encrypt them manually...

I know you might not want to upgrade yet, but Windows 7's Sync capabilities are far better than in XP.

For us, we don't mind taking it so long as it'll fit in with our environment (i.e. computers will run Windows 7 decently)... which generally means kit people want to keep and aren't willing to give away

I bought a couple of mice and keyboards from them a while back, turned out they didn't have enough stock but didn't tell me until I rang them up to ask where my order was. They're fine to order from as long as you don't have to deal with their CS IMO

Hey, On one laptop in our school we're having an issue where various (seemingly random) websites redirect to Apache or IIS test pages (or what I guess is the webserver's default IP)... I've seen this before where the machine isn't configured to use our/our LEA's proxy servers but I've checked this already and IE is certainly going through our Forefront box (which upstreams to an E2BN proxy). I've checked the hosts file, DNS is set to our primary and secondary DCs as it should and the proxy setting is correct, the correct IPs are returned when I ping any of the sites in question and it's not happening on any other machine in the school. Has anyone else come across this before? Thanks

We use Casio XJ-A130s in 4 our of 5 of our classrooms, looking to get another to use as our portable project too. We're really pleased with them and the teachers find it much easier to just wipe the edges with a cloth to clean. The only problem I had with them is that one of them came with a duff remote and Casio wanted us to send the whole projector back, which just wasn't an option for us. They're a lot clearer and brighter than our previous Mitsubishis (could have just been age though...) and I mounted them to our existing adjustable mounts fine, I just had to buy some smaller screws and washers to use them, ~7ft from the whiteboards.

Our Life Channel subscription is up this year (thank God, I wouldn't have signed up to it!) and I'm hoping to get Xibo running on a Raspberry Pi... seems like the perfect solution to me.

I'd strongly suggest taking a look at the Casio projectors, we've just replaced all our classroom projectors with XJ-A130s and they're brilliant... especially as they don't require any "real" maintenance. Home - CASIO Projectors

Either, the controller software is free and runs on top of Windows/Mac OS.

Just a bit unfortunate the price of the Unifi Pro version is £180 odd, for those of us who want PoE without the damn external injectors
