We are another happy freshdesk customer although not the free version as there's a couple of features we needed but was only available in one of the paid for subscriptions. Clearly that important, I got for the life of me remember what they were !

If it's just the files she needs would something like OneDrive, Dropbox or Google drive work?

We used Stone and the offering worked well and all the admin was carried out for us, it was a nightmare with parents stopped paying once signed up to the scheme aka theft ! Everything was covered with the gap insurance etc, so the school wasn't out of pocket it just didn't feel right personally, so i've decided not to do it this year.

We are a current IAMCloud user but have had issues with it running on our Windows 10 Vanilla network. We also use RM Unify and I think the issue probably lies with that. We have recently pushed out the latest OneDrive files on demand and staff have mentioned the reliability is much better, so we will go with that and not use IAMCloud once the renewal is due.

I Installed this latest release on Wednesday, no issues reported back to us yet.

Only in the early days of testing files on demand, but no reported SIMS issues that we have seen.

We much prefer desktop PC's in classrooms and are in the process of moving away from laptops in one of our primariees to desktops. As people have pointed out, less demand on the teacher to setup each lesson especially if the lessons change over reguarly. Also from a cost of ownership point of view, you'll find desktops will probably be 50% of the overall cost over a 3 - 5 year plan - even more if you decide to use refurbished machines.

You will find most will base their config on the connect.ini on the server. Once changed, hopefully you won't have as many to change manually.

Up until around 2 weeks ago, I would have recommended https://www.myassettag.com/assettiger/ - but they appear to have recently sent everyone an invoice, so no longer free. Depending on the number of asset's you might still find it fits with your budget.

We use https://www.connectwise.com/software/control for our accessing our primary school servers remotely. Can be setup on workstations either on demand or to run each time. There's options to download and run an .exe, java etc.

I've had a backdated invoice and a new invoice for the next 12 months. I am happy to pay from this point forward but nothing previous.

I asked the question if it was possible when we signed up and they said it wasn't available.

I am sure each quote is bespoke to each school so your probably best contacting them direct, but each machine for 700 devices was about £3.30 each for us the last time I spoke to them with a significant discount the longer you bought into a contract 3 / 5 years etc.

We've recently kitted our refurbished main hall out with new sound and a/v gear and a member of the IT team looks after it and runs the shows etc.

We scrapped MLS and moved to Libresoft - we are a fairly large secondary school and I wouldn't say we are Library power users, the system does more than enough for our requirements - in fact in the 8 months or so we've had it the prodcut has constantly evolved based on user feedback so I would certainly say it's one to look at to see if it ticks the boxes. Data migration from MLS to Libresoft was flawless too.

We only issue a blank template to all parents and let them fill the information in - we no longer provide a data collection form with the information we currently hold incase the information goes missing ! Hadn't really thought about the notifying the third and fourth contacts to seek their permission to store such data.

We retrospectively log all calls on our helpdesk for our primaries. If the issue has been identified by an individual we can log the ticket as them otherwise, we just log the call with a generic IT Support user assigned and add the resolution for future reference if necessary. We will soon be providing the headteachers at each of our schools with reporting functionality so they can see exactly what jobs are getting done and logged by who on a weekly basis - if they wish.

We use it mainly just for our plugin deployment and updates. All of our other software is pushed out via SCCM. We do think it's value for money here, I know others also rave about the PDQ Inventory product, but we've trialled it and didn't think it was required for us.
