So, back in March, the bro in law got me a bottle of Kraken black rum for my birthday. Unsurprisingly, as it was my birthday, half the bottle got drunk between us. I've cracked it out again tonight to have a bit over ice, but it's only the second time I've had it. While it's awesome neat, does anyone have any serving suggestions they'd recommend? I also feel it mandatory to say "Release the Kraken!"

Best guess, I would have thought the "New users, introduce yourself here" thread? It's had 303,803 views as of 2 minutes ago! Also 157 pages of responses.

[pics] Poster: Some Days This Seems Very Appropriate [But Today Is OK]
Rawns replied to 6Foot2's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
You have an Xbox in your Office?! Also, where is the Windows 8 boot screenshot? -
I misread the title of this thread and came here expecting bacon! As there is none, I'm off.

The upgrade is now live. Queue the obligatory questions about where to download Discover from as no one can find the news post!

IE 10 is not supported for SIMS .net reporting until the SIMS Summer release. Interesting as Win 8 is supported from Spring and comes with IE 10 as default...

Interesting, did not know you could import e-mail automatically from other accounts!

Ages ago, when Gail became available, I set up a Gmail e-mail account and picked some random e-mail address but never really used it. Since then, I've got various Google services linked to it as well as an android phone with Play store purchases against it too. Now I want to actually use Gmail as my main e-mail service but don't want to use the e-mail address I set up originally. Is there any way I can change my Gmail address without affecting all the other Google services I use?

The only thing holding my rig back slightly now is my GPU. While still slightly better than bottom end 650's, I'd live to get my grubby hands on a 660. OPr, if I win the lottery, I'll blatantly be purchasing a Titan!

Funny, I just built myself a new rig a few weeks ago and your components are almost identical. The only difference being the motherboard, I still have an ASUS mobo but I have the M5A97 Pro. One of the things that shocked me about the motherboard is that the BIOS now has full mouse support! No more arrow keys and F10 buttons to save changes! The AMD FX-8350 is an epic piece of kit! Seriously epic! Don't let the Intel fanboys tell you otherwise. It runs ARMA3 Alpha like a dream and I can record with Bandicam at the same time and it barely breaks a sweat. For maximum awesomeness, be sure to get an SSD. I went for the Samsung 120GB 840 Pro and my rig boots in an instant! Tip: My Asus mobo had an early bios version on it and on the supported CPU list, it said the AMD FX-8350 was not supported until a later BIOS version (even though the system booted and ran) so I flashed it with the latest version and got a significant performance boost after. Be sure to check that if you go for that motherboard.

[sims] Remote Desktop, FMS reports + printer error
Rawns replied to edutech4schools's topic in MIS Systems
FMS is extremely temperamental with printers and remote access. Other apps will pick it up just fine, but FMS won't unless you load something else first. Get your Bursar to load Word up first before FMS and then go to File | Print and check it's picked up her home printer. If it has, leave Word open and then load FMS which will magically also pick up the home printer. We have this issue in our TS environment and FMS won't pick up the printers unless Word is ran first. -
Are you planning on getting Windows 8 out in your environment soon too? Got a Windows 8 test system set up here with SIMS Autumn 2012 Green Abbey running on SQL2012 Express. I've done some limited testing so but experienced no real difficulties.
-
Capita should release it to us COB tomorrow hopefully. We won't be getting it out in schools though until the end of April.
-
For info, Windows Server 2012 is not "officially" supported until the SIMS Spring release is applied. I have attempted a test install of install Discover on a SQL 2012 instance (in case it 'kind of' works) but the database refuses to create outright. As for Win 8/IE10 support, that's a fail on Capita's front. You would assume that they have tested SIMS .net in a Windows 8 environment to death including it's use with IE10. I'd assume that it will work, but could encounter an odd issue here and there.

In regards to tethering where plans don't allow it, can they actually tell if you are tethering or not?

I had no idea they did it as fresh ground coffee!!! Only ever picked up the instant from Sainsburys! I must find a bag of fresh ground from somewhere!

I like strong coffee. I like the effects caffiene gives me. I just finished a jar of this in work and need to resupply: I like this at home on a weekend: Unless it's for medical reasons, why give up something if you really like it? The Death Wish coffe is just an extreme version that people may want to try. At that price though, I doubt people will make it their daily coffee of choice! It's no different then people who like spice and want to eat chilli peppers/sauce that come in at the top of the scoville scale. Extreme food and drink. It's the best kind of extreme....

Scrap this. Remembered last night the speaker port is dead on the motherboard and you have to use the mic jack and switch the port outputs around in the audio software to get sound! Also, looking at prices of the CPU on it's own, its not worth a lot at all. Therefore it's free to a good home (P&P fees required), or will be disposed of by the end of next week. If you want individual bits (eg, the memory which is 4 x 1GB sticks), let me know.

Wile a game pad will work up to a point, ARMA3 is really not designed to be played with one. It's a military simulator and a game pad simply cannot provide the same level of control as a mouse and keyboard can. Saying that, if you do have one, it's handy to have it close to hand and configured for air vehicle control.

@Millgate do iPad repairs I bllieve? Maybe PM for a quote?

Anyone give this a go over the weekend? Lost a few hours to it already!

Noticed GiffGaff do "recommend friends" links for free credit? Any GiffGaff Edugeekers want to hook me up with a link?

[sims] [SOLUS3] - Out of data SIMS clients not automatically upgrading (Rant)
Rawns replied to Rawns's topic in MIS Systems
Effectively, yes. It could be a few days, could be a few hours, it really just depends on the size of your estate and the online availability of your devices. Once you receive the upgrade from Capita/LA in your SOLUS3 environment, the longer you hold off rolling it out, the more devices will get the update packages before hand. There will always be some devices that are offline though! -
This network sounds too good to be true!
-
Can't see anything obvious (plus the site's being updated and half the links don't work at the moment!), but am I right in thinking GiffGaff is effectively a PAYG network? IE, there is no minimum 'contract' as such?
