Does anyone know of a way to query remote machines to work out which items in the MS Office 2003 package have been installed? For example, I need to work out whether or not MS Word/Powerpoint are there. Using spiceworks, I can see which machines Office is installed on, but I can't see which parts of it are.

Yeah, the joining a server issue bugs the hell out of me. Cheers for the IP address tip, if I find a decent server I'll use it.

Currently using a HTC Dream (Tmobile G1) and have loved it. My contract is up in June, so unless anything better comes out, I'll be getting the HTC Desire. The Android version of the HTC HD2 will be coming out sometime soon, too, but it's freaking huge!

The above is a fix for an issue we've been having with Corel Draw X4. The application crashes when opening a file dialog, but it's resolved with the fix. Unfortunately, it's fixed with TweakUI (under the Common Dialogs section), and is a per-user setting which is undone when a user logs off and back on again. Any ideas how I might go about either editing the profile to include the change, or tweak group policy to the same effect?

The i3 could be considered the mid-range C2D processors, performance-wise. The i5 range the top end of the C2D range, and higher. The i7 are faster again. Right now, the i5 750 offers the best performance for the cost.

I have an i5-750. I've overclocked it to 3.2GHz using the overclocking tools that come with the motherboard. I also bought mine when 1600MHz DDR3 was a little cheaper, and got me some GSkill 4GB 8-8-8-24 dual beauties for about £65. I was previously running a C2D E6550, and the difference (in games, mainly) was staggering. I was playing a lot of counter strike source at the time, and even with keeping the same graphics card (8800GT) I quite literally had a 100% improvement in framerate.

Would there be a reason why it needs to be hidden when not in use?

You can't. If it works, and there's no damage on inspection, it'll be fine.

There's no law that states how often something needs inspection and/or testing. It's basically all just common sense. But that timetable he was given sounds reasonable enough.

Sorry Powdarrmonkey, I believe you are incorrect. As it's a transformer, and the voltages within the appliance are below 50 volts, it's a Class 3 appliance. It doesn't need testing. Therefore, you perform a formal visual inspection. Check to see there is no damage to the transformer, cable or device, and that it has the correctly rated fuse.

It depends. If the cord's plug is a sealed unit, a visual inspection would be fine.

Well I used DVD Styler in the end. It worked beautifully, transcoding the videos and putting them into an iso for me to burn. I couldn't tell you how long it took, because I let it run overnight and it was finished when I got in this morning. Two thumbs up!
