  1. Another vote for 7zip.
  2. Most of the time people are told that I'm in the exam, and they have to wait until I finish in there. If it's urgent, then someone covers me whilst I go and see to it.
  3. I've just been given a timetable for the exams. Due to new rules, the school can only pay a set amount for invigilators (think it's only just above minimum wage). So most non-teaching staff are called in to help out. Hey, if they think my time's better spent pacing a room rather than doing my job, who am I to complain.
  4. Pretty much. Do a quick google.
  5. With the backing of the guy who owns overclockers.co.uk, I can't see it. Unfortunately.
  6. I'm disappointed with nVidia's offering. Having a card that's priced itself out of the market is never a good thing, but it also means that AMD can keep the Radeon prices higher than they need to be. A monopoly in the market is never good for the consumer.
  7. I'll be going LibDem. They speaketh more sense.
  8. I've used the hidden recovery partition a number of times. Now I just need to create a USB flash drive with Clonezilla on it to automate the recovery process.
  9. The Humble Indie Bundle (pay what you want for five awesome indie games) Five games, pay what you like. Money by default is split between the seven parties, but you can choose your own ratio. Looks like a good cause to me.
  10. I'm going to be building a media centre PC, but the DVB-T2 cards required to get FreeviewHD aren't yet being released to manufacturers of PC components.
  11. If this is getting more common, I may have to make an announcement at tomorrow's staff meeting.
  12. It was most noticeable for me after playing GoldenEye religiously, where upon seeing a security camera you'd try and sneak around it. There was another time of playing a marathon Tetris session, and everything seemed to be in grids that my mind would try and organise.
  13. You could always try the post office? Simply Drop I've heard of more than a few problems when dealing with the recycling companies who you ship your phone to via the post. Such as being told your phone was 'damaged' whilst in transit, and thus they're unwilling to pay you the full price.
  14. The maps are smaller than BF2, but the player classes are more geared toward cooperative play. It's a faster game, but not the twitch-gaming of MW. It also accommodates a greater variety of playing styles, with each player class having a support role (Assault carries ammo packs, engineer repairs vehicles, medic revives and drops health kits, Recon drops motion detectors). You could play an entire round with just the medic's paddles out and not fire a weapon, and still have a score at the top of the board. On the whole, I enjoy it a lot more than BF2, which I found had plenty of moments of "I have no idea what I'm meant to do, here". BC2 doesn't have any of that, and is a lot more fun because of it.
  15. The alternative is to just have another area do the transactions. For example, they pop into reception, hand over their cash, and the receptionist adds that money to their account, or provides them with a kind of voucher (barcode?) that they can take to the kiosk and have the credits added via scanner.
  16. Mandatory here for teaching staff and pupils, admin and other key staff have roaming.
  17. Our school used to spend a fortune before introducing print management software. Whereas before there'd be a lot of waste (i.e. impatiently clicking the print icon), now we have very little due to flow control.
  18. We were going to assign a set amount of credit to pupils, and have them pay extra if they go over the limit. However I don't think we're allowed, from a legal standpoint, to force pupils to pay for something that's required in pursuit of their course.
  19. On the other hand, it's cheap enough to replace.
  20. I think that the Fablon idea is the one we'll most likely go with. Any idea where I could pick the stuff up?
  21. It definitely affects some mice more than others. The mice we're currently using are the funky-shaped Acer models. We'd still have the same issue with MS and Logitech mice, though not to the same degree.
  22. I've still got the mouse-pad painting as an option. There isn't any texture, but it must have some grain in it on other areas of the desk. I think I'd take the drawing lines a bit further, and maybe cut marks into it. Though they're likely to hold dirt. The mice are brand new out of the box.
  23. It's an update for the existing Maps app. You'll either get a notification that an update is available, or if you're impatient you can go into the Market and download it.
  24. Just updated. Works like a charm!
  25. We have a number of desks on which our optical mouses have trouble tracking. It's strange, as other parts of the same desk don't have this issue. It's almost as if they've been rubbed smooth over the years and are now too reflective. I've tried some sandpaper but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Mousemats are definitely out of the question. Any ideas?
