Just tested the demo. When trying to book rooms, the javascript box pops up for a moment and tries to load, but then disappears again. Happens under both admin and user, and still occurs after I created a brand new room. I've tried a few weeks in advance, too, but no joy.

I built a similar PHP system in uni, and to calculate holidays you entered the start and finish dates. I think yours is the better idea, though. Just click on which weeks are holidays and have the system work out the logic for pushing weeks A and B into the right place. A little drop-down toggle on the weeks immediately following a holiday could then let you choose which week to start on if the system calculated wrongly.

I think I know what you mean. For example: Have one form to fill in, and then a load of location, period and date fields underneath. That would definitely be handy.

I played that demo a hundred times, trying different strategies. Amazing. My moments are mainly on the N64. Best console EVAH: Zelda: Ocarina of time - all of it. There were too many moments of "...wow..." to list. Everything from the opening in kokiri forest, to seeing hyrule field, to the boss battles... It's pretty much the best game I've ever played. Nothing's yet beat it. Goldeneye - Picking up the sniper rifle in the first guard tower, and frantically trying to line up your shot. Jet Force Gemini - the epic sweeping orchestral symphonies that start up when you know there's about to be some action. Ocarina of time - a second listing for being incredible.

Saw something similar in my previous job. They (a member of the teaching staff) stripped the plastic and twisted the wires together. The look of bafflement on their face when it wouldn't work was priceless.

Tablets are mainly designed to browse the web and view media. Unless this is what the course involves, I'd not bother.

I run MS Security Essentials on my home machines, and recommend it to anyone else that asks. It seems a hell of a lot less bloated than most other products.

We have an SLA with the local authority. They have a dedicated team that manage all the school servers and infrastructure centrally. Sucks as I was doing exactly that in my previous role, but there we go. I could ask for those courses, but there's little hope of getting on them. Especially as there's no budget (that I know of) for courses...

I haven't been on a single course (apart from portable appliance testing) since I've been here, so it's safe to say I've had nothing in the form of professional development. What I'd like are courses and qualifications that the school could fund in order to accomplish the above. I couldn't justify asking for certain courses as I'm not involved in managing the servers or switches, but I do pretty much everything else (basically the head technician in a department of one). Is ITIL worthwhile? How about anything similar that would be applicable to my position, preferably industry recognised? With the closure of our school on the horizon, I know I need extra 'stuff' to launch me into interview positions in the not too distant future. Cheers.

The Advent Vega or Archos 101 are the ones to look for at the moment, IMO. The cheaper ones, whilst they may fill a niche, invariably use resistive screens and have a poor build quality. I'd rather save a little longer and get something that will last and be much nicer to use.
