He was three years old in September. I have a ten year old laptop which I want to set up for him, but I'd like ideas and advice on which way to go. Do I go down the Linux route, and used a custom-tailored distro, or is there an overlay for Windows that works well? Ideas for software are also welcome - TuxPaint is a must etc.

To be honest, I was pretty disappointed with that game. With all the boasting the game devs made, you would have though it would rival ArmA2, but it's bested even by the original in so many ways. You don't get to drive a tank until right at the end and you don't have any flying units at all.

Full spec: Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 2.33GHz 4GB DDR2 @ 1066MHz ASUS motherboard with nForce 650 chipset 2x nVidia 8800GT I've found a video CUDA-enabled transcoder in MediaCoder - more than a universal audio/video transcoder - MediaCoder official website The latest CUDA drivers from nVidia apparently support SLI. Whether that means distributing the load across the cards, or simply switching off SLI in software to only function on one card, I'm not sure. Folding@Home now supports CUDA, but whilst a worthy cause may not be most useful in a school (I could always run it overnight). For now, the video conversion sounds like the best bet as it could prove most useful.

Home based, but I'm open to having it in the school if it's interesting enough.

I have a C2D motherboard, with processor and memory. The motherboard supports SLI, and handily I have two nVidia 8800GT cards I'm using to catch dust. What would you do with a CUDA-enabled system? I want to make use of the system, and ideally I'd like to take advantage of both cards simultaneously. I'm after ideas. Any suggestions?

I'm going to purchase an NES for when I build my media centre PC. I'll be modding the controller ports, too, so that you can plug USB controllers into it. NES + Atom/ION = AWESOME You can't argue with maths.

I have a Mitsubishi Colt Di-D. It's only got 95 bhp, but then it only weighs 930Kg, so that's over 100bhp per ton. I could have the ECU remapped for about £300, which would take it up to 125bhp. That's 0-60mph in under eight seconds. My daily commute tends to balance out at around 50mpg. For the drive to work in the morning, I'm in economy mode (60mpg). For the drive home I'm in race mode (40mpg)

Your mate is lying. There's no way that he's getting 50mpg in a 2 litre petrol, unless it's downhill the whole way. And what diesel car do you have? You should have checked the car's figures before buying it.
