The inclusion of full VGA resolution.

I'm looking into using an energy efficient lightbulb in mine, with a diffuser to even it out. I know a lot of people don't like them for not being strong enough, but I can't see it being an issue in a box half a metre to a side. With regards to the camera, I'm thinking the PS3 Eye may be the best option as lots of people are having good results with it. I'll try the cheapy logitech one I have on hand at the moment, first, before spending any extra. I called up a local builder's merchant, and they could cut me 6mm acrylic. Ideally I'd like 8mm, but 6mm over the span of a 19" monitor shouldn't flex. For 600mm x 600mm they've quoted me £40. I'd be having roughly 400mm x 300mm so it'll be cheaper than that. There may be offcuts available though. I'm also going to use a 2mm piece to hold the lcd.

I still don't know which way I'll take it. I'm building it in my head, and I'm torn between flat or sloped. I'm just thinking sitting over a flat table wouldn't do wonders for your lower back, especially as you can't tuck your legs underneath, meaning leaning further. Unless the screen is twisted 45 degrees, so that when you use it you can move closer as the corner will be between your legs. How many points can the wiimote handle simultaneously?

I'm in a tough position right now. My job doesn't pay fantastically, and the fiancee is a primary teacher who's struggling to find work. And to make matters worse, the base rate is expected to rise with inflation, too.

Just had a thought: A lot of webcams have noticeable input lag. How much of an issue would this be?

I've just ordered a batch of 50 IR LEDs off ebay. Instead of a projector, I plan on building mine around an LCD panel. I'll be popping into the DT department later to get some ideas on how to go about acquiring the plexiglass required, and maybe some ideas on cabinet design. I'm thinking a sloped surface would work best, as the viewing angle on an LCD would hinder a flat one, especially when you're sitting down.

Plus a mirror as the projector will be mounted near the top of the cabinet. I prefer the idea of placing the vellum underneath the acrylic sheet, as that way the thing would be resistant to spills etc.

It's the school's responsibility. It was confiscated by the school (which the teacher is acting on behalf of) and therefore it's up to the school to ensure that it's safe. A DSi has an rrp of £150, so it's not a trivial issue.

What's all this about?

We've printed out 41,320 pages since starting back in September. We're using Print Limit Pro and have set up a 90-second rule. Someone can't print the same document without waiting 90 seconds. It prevents the click-happy lot who get impatient when their document doesn't appear from the printer straight away. That alone has probably halved the number of pages that get printed.

Holy , if it didn't cost people their lives it would be enough to make you laugh. "powered by static electricity" The manufacturers seem to have found a way around the laws of physics. Impressive.

I used to use Mach3/5 razors for years. Tried Wilkinson Sword, but they don't agree with me. I think my facial hair is too tough for their blades or something.... Anyway, I'm now using a good old fashioned safety razor, with brush and shaving soap. I thought it would be inconvenient compared to the shaving foam/gel, but it's just the opposite. Plus replacement blades cost 70p for 5 in Wilkinson, and they last just as long as the expensive ones from Gillette.

I'd love a camera for my dog, but it would more than likely end up being broken on its first outing.

Our policy is along the lines of "If you're unsure whether something is allowed, then it probably isn't." Staff used to have admin rights on their laptops, but not any longer.

My contracted hours are 8-4, Mon to Fri. I used to be willing to stay behind to finish things off, but it was never appreciated so I stopped doing it. Also, I get the same recognition at the end of the day whether I bust my balls or take my time. So now I just do the latter.

A primary school is looking to update their website, and I've been asked if I'm willing to do it. I'm going to set up Joomla so that they can create their own content easily enough. The problem is, I don't know whether to take care of the hosting requirements and charge accordingly, or walk the school through it so that they take care of it themselves. Also, what's a fair price for setting up a Joomla site? £350? £400?

Android phones are just going to keep getting better and better. I have the original HTC Dream (the T-Mobile G1) and I still love it even now, over twelve months after I started the contract. I use my phone for loads of things, not just the usual: checking email and my calendar, reading books, browsing the web, as a modem for my netbook, to search for cheaper products by scanning barcodes, instant messaging, watching BBC iplayer and Youtube.... It's quite literally the best phone I've ever had. Granted the battery life isn't the best, but it goes two days without a charge and it's rare that I'm not near some kind of power source for that long. I can understand the appeal of the iPhone, but it's not flexible enough for what I need and the price is prohibitive. The Nexus One looks like my ideal phone, apart from the lack of a hardware keyboard which I don't think I could get along without. But then, there are rumours of an enterprise version which meets that demand....

I charge a basic flat rate of £20 to individuals, and £25 per hour for businesses (I have to declare that, so the extra accounts for tax) regardless of what I'm doing. It makes everything easier, as they can use my time as they see fit. If I get an urgent request (i.e. less than 24 hours notice) I add a £30 fee for inconvenience. That just applies to businesses, mind.

I'll be setting up Joomla on it. I'm just after recommendations for hosting companies, and what people's experiences with them have been. Cheers.

I mean, Chrome installs into the user directory. The install doesn't affect system files, so if you add it to the whitelist, they should be able to add it themselves.

Pupils should be able to install Chrome by themselves.
