Cheers people, VLC sounds like it'll do the trick!

It doesn't need to record. All it would do is take the stream from a webcam, and then show it on the screen. The Preview functionality of most recording softwares (like Movie Maker) isn't any good, due to the size. The idea is basically the same as those visualiser tools where students get to view whatever's on a teacher's desk, for example when they're marking a mock exam paper in front of the class. There are plenty devices out there available for purchase, it's just that we're looking to make a homebrew version so we don't have to fork out £70 for the privelege.

I've got a case of invisible printers at the moment. They're shared on the network. The scripts to install them on the workstations work. The permissions are all correct. The print management software can see them. But there are no printers appearing on the computers. *cue twilight zone music*

The IP address of the fog server had to be changed, and now when the client machine tries to mount the NFS volume on the server it keeps looking at the old IP address. Everything else works fine; DHCP assigns an address to the client, which then can grab pxelinux.0 and perform tasks. However, when uploading the partition image it now reports the error of being unable to mount the nfs volume at the old IP address. I've changed the address of the default node in the storage management section, so is there anywhere else that I'd need to edit to get it working? Cheers all.

I'm in short supply of 0.5 metre and shorter cables. Everywhere I look the cables are a pound or more whereas I'm pretty sure that not so long back you could pick them up for 20p. If it comes down to it I can cut them myself, but it's a huge PITA and I won't really have the time. Any help appreciated!

We have to provide a survey for the pupils to complete regarding how they feel about their lesson. A web-based form would probably be the most practical method, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has done something similar, and what they'd recommend.

I've had the opposite experience, and after installing the latest patch it all runs fluidly. Don't consider getting it, though, if you don't have at least a two core cpu, as it's heavily dependent on the cpu and multithreading.

I couldn't get FOG to install whatsoever behind our firewall, so I just took the machine home to do it. One thing that's puzzled me however is the dhcp3-server daemon won't autostart...

Well I am now in possession of this awesome game. Had a few issues to begin with, but they were resolved after a graphics driver update. This game is unbelievably pretty.
