  1. Oh, no sorry, i wasnt saying this is a problem anymore, we have closed the hole, i just figured i would make a post, to alert others "just in case"
  2. Open wordpad, or paint / any similar XP program, and click Help, on the title bar of the help, right click, and then "GO TO URL" bing, internet is available. we use a locked down account for exams, only offering wordpad, to keep students off things like spell check, but realised they could do this instead! just a heads up, im sure this is old news
  3. taking this exam in Feb, anyone have the course book 2nd hand i could nab? Thanks in advance
  4. This probally does not meet all your requirements, but is still a bargin for the price, and worth having a look at on the offchance it has a 1/2 decent graphics. Acer Aspire 5732Z Value Laptop - Laptops at Ebuyer 4GB DDR3!
  5. Just my 2cents, i think the nav bar at the top, needs to be a different font, something smoother, and perhaps centered too? but other than that, looks very clean and nice! me likey!
  6. welcome!
  7. I have a query regarding the moodle exercise module. When a student uploads a file to the exercise there appears to be a predefined delay before the file shows up under the assessment section for the teachers. I have a moodle book which implies there is a way to change this periodic script setting but i have no idea where this is. Is anyone could shed some light on this that would be great. Thanks in advance

  17. With windows 7 do you not have to put domain\username or username@domain to login? this would be a nightmare at our school, if i am correct in my assumption the CTRL ALT DEL screen is out, and the welcome screen with no drop down for domain is in..
  18. Me Again! any help will be much appreciated Down in our 6th form area in school we are allowing students to use their own laptops to connect to our wireless point to browse the internet. There seems to be a lot of things that are accessible which definitely should not be. For example a student connects their own laptop to said wireless point and can open explorer and type \\servername (authentication prompt comes up but allows the student to connect with their domain\username and password) and view certain shares, even worse - \\pcname – the student can view shares and printers, add one and print something. Although it is unlikely they would know the names of our servers/PC’s it is still a small security issue that id like to close. The access point that is currently installed has been set up with a static IP address and has its gateway set to our firewall server. The firewall has a rule in place to only allow HTTP traffic from this source and deny everything else. Even with this rule set, the students can still access shares and printers. Is there a better way to lock it down so that they only have access to browse the internet? Thanks in advance
  19. Well, thanks all, and I'm glad I brought up an issue which other people now are aware of! and who said Microsoft courses were useless!
  20. As i learnt on my Latest course, normal users ( in our case students ) have the ability to add 10 computer accounts to a Domain. i am the apprentice and do not want to fiddle too much, in case of breaking something and then being hunted through the building before experiencing a horrible painful death. SO. i come to ask if anyone knows a simple solution to this security hole? Thanks.
  21. Thanks Jamo, that's exactly what it was. now onto the (hopeful) recovery!
  22. we have a few laptops in school, built standard and then connected to our domain. they are then given a local account for the owner so he/she can take it home and log on locally, then work etc. now, last night, we connected one of these laptops via LAN cable, to give the owner network access (via a completely different network account, named differently to his/her local one) the owner had been using this laptop locally ONLY for 3-4 months with no issues. but when they logged back on locally this morning, all their profile seems to of reset itself completely without a trace of where it has gone. also, the local account is named something which does not exist on our domain, so he could not of logged on to the network with the User name which has had its profile wiped. so 1. does anyone know why this is happening? and 2. is there any good recovery software we can use to get the files back ( system restore was disabled)
  23. Congratulations!
  24. BenBSH is mine, only play CoD4, and have a few public servers, and a ventrilo, which of course, all are welcome on if they fancy a few minutes play.
  25. well, i used to be with Orange, and have had my iPhone for around 6-7 months now, and personally, i find O2 are a far better provider with far more helpful support and signal coverage down here in the muddy land of Cornwall! so if they offer similar prices, my money would still be on 02..
