  1. Hi guys another Sharepoint problem, this one doesnt help me out at all. I get the Sharepoint has encountered an unexpected error. So i went and edited the web.config file and changed custom errors to Off and callstack to true so i could see what the error actually was and i get this: [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.DateTimeField.GetDateValue(DateTimeField fieldControl) +128 Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.DateTimeField.Validate(Boolean validateMemberControl) +474 Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.DateTimeField.Validate() +44 System.Web.UI.Page.Validate() +117 System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.RaisePostBackEvent(String eventArgument) +105 System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(IPostBackEventHandler sourceControl, String eventArgument) +29 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) +2981 This is comming up when anyone even administrator try to edit a calendar entry in sharepoint or add one. Although the wiered thing is, that this doesnt happen for all calendar entrys just ones on certain dates. Any ideas guys? I've been working on this problem for about 3 days along side my other sharepoint problem which i just sorted about 15 mins ago so im in a better mood Anyway if you could shine any light on this it would be greatly appreciated, obviously you will be thanked for any reply you give even if it didnt work Thanks in advance, Dukey.
  2. Thanks for your help guys the issue actually wasnt the location of the documents. It was to do with SSL, the internal website had to use SSL to view the documents, so all i did was remove the SSL binding for the site in IIS and edited the AAM to use HTTP instead of HTTPS. Jobs a good en'
  3. Hi guys, Just a little help needed here. I have moved data from one server to another, within this data file is documents for all sorts, I've also managed to migrate Sharepoint to the new sever also, but we now have a problem where all the document links don't work as they are looking for the old share on the old server and it doesn't exist no more. There is about 500 document links on this sharepoint site. Do i have to go through each one and update each link or is there an easier way, that doesn't involve me being on auto pilot for the next 5 days to the point where i am doing this in my sleep! Thanks a lot in advance

Thanks alot Dukey
  9. Yeah it does
  10. Yeah i have checked if the server still has the same ip and it does, this is what puzzling me everything is as it should be but it just isnt working, my thoughs were something in Services, but nope not that either.
  11. wow thanks for the quick replys i didnt think about firewall ill check that later. @jamesfed sorry i forgot to mention that our server is a member server and doesnt use its self for DNS but another server offsite, im sure DNS is working though because all nslookup queries work. I thought it might have been but its proved not to be. Thanks guys for the quick responses, please do keep them coming if you have any ideas, im totally dried up lol.
  12. Hi guys At our school we are running windows server 2003, and about 3 weeks ago we had a power cut, ever since then connecting to the network shares hasnt been the same. Ill explain... Right when im on the server and go to start then run then type in \\servername\sharename it wont connect it comes up wih an error about not being able to connect.. i will get the exact error later on. Now still on the server i do the same (start, run) then type \\serverip\sharename again it comes up with the error. From the Client end if i go to Start, Run then type \\servername\sharename it connects to it perfectly no problems, but if i type in \\serverip\sharename it say network path not found. Any ideas ive been scratching my head for a week now and its causing a problem with scanning because the scanner we have sends the scanned document to the server using ip as we cant do it by server name and its also stopping a database backup also. Any ideas would be much appreciated Thanks alot in advance! Dukey

    Clone a PC?

Hi i wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction. I currently have a Dell Optiplex GX520 PC and im wanting to 'clone' that and put it on a Dell Latitude D630 laptop so its a like for like. The reason for this is so my laptop can act as a backup if the PC decides to die one day! Is this possible i used cloning software before but that does all the drivers and everything and i think it would clash with the hardware on the laptop and cause it to blue screen The OS is XP Pro Thanks
