Iv finally taken the plunge and put 7 on my laptop, added an extra partition and use it when im not in a rush (Xp is so much faster for quick stuff). But straight away I found two problems, Problem 1: Every boot up now it finds inconsistencies in the drive and tries to scan it (I presume it’s because it not my primary OS and I don’t mind skipping it, but still a little annoying) Problem 2: It won’t download anything! Just sits on the download dialog doesn’t ask to save or run then the connection fails. Possibly partition delete I think, Xp is the future!

anyone know how to set the default printer to the local printer, if its present?? i currently run a batch script that maps network drives, any idea how to set the locally installed printer to default without manually doing it? maybe deleting all the network printers would set the local as default, then mapping the network printers again???? .COM!

select start and then run and type secpol.msc to open the UAC controls. Then go through and turn off all of the admin restrictions and reboot. You can then do as you please and go back and re-enable some of the UAC controls for your own safety.

Hi guys, firstly the office i have is 2003 and is running on XP. When i try to print it works fine but if i alter the number of copys it still only prints one copy, any ideas for a fix? Tried a repair to no avail and also did a reinstall with no difference, i dont really see it as a problem but the teacher does! Cheers for any suggestions

Yes we,v got it in blackburn. It says single licence on our disk to, and yes as little miss said youv have to set write access to the Data file inside the program files on each machine! luckily enough for me i remembered to do this before a mass imaging session

How come everytime i download an attachment off here the zip file is invaild or currupt!

are you using the same version of XP as the key?? if your using a pro disk and the key is home for example it wont accept it. Also only OEM discs except all keys

Windows 7 install discs are edition-specific — if you've got a valid license key, you still need the right disc for installation. The ei.cfg Removal Utility, however, lets you create a new, universal installation ISO for Windows 7. We had a similar problem and the phone line had broke due to the powercut so get BT or who ever to confirm its still working and they can see you switches

Has anyone successfully set up video conferencing on skype? A teacher at my school wishes for me to set it up, which I would attempt But the LEA has blocked all Skype sites! Idiots. Is skype allowed out through the proxy? Any setup guides very welcome guys, Thanks
