I would just run a xp repair over the top, it will keep all the files and programs and just renew the os. that would save all the restoring time, but leep the backup until you have tested it all

the Pcs are one of 3 models, Acer veriton, Fujitsu something, and Lenovo something. All running Xp with not windows update or new software for over a month now. the power surge story would make sence tho, did the LAN cards still work after the power surge?? Thanks guys

nope, cant remote to and cannot ping any pc. the only fix iv found is unistalling the network card and reinstalling, but im wondering if this will happen again and possibly repeatativly if i dont find a prevention

sorry for the bump guys but this has really stumped me and i cannot find anything on it, even technicians with years of experience can offer me no methods of identifying the problem or even the cause. i am bricking it that this will happen again, my school were not happy to be without evey pc all day yesterday and if it happens again ill get so much grief, please help! No cables in fine, it just shows nothing on the network connections. even if i unplug the cable and pop it back in, just shows nothing. not even limited or no connectivity and not unplugged, just nothing at all.

or use Recover from the ccleaner people i think, its pretty good!

i have 10 different schools and in a few of them i have noticed some PCs not logging on, when i log in locally the network connection is not there!? after uninstalling and reinstalling the network card it comes back. is this a virus or am i being stupid?? Its happened on different site, different PC makes and models, and different LEAs. Help please its very annoying

I think you have been lucky and this altough this is a fault is very handy to stop people downloading crapps (crap apps)

The second i posted that i looked in the web browser controller and found user authentisication managment and unticked the colour and black and white print jobs restrictions. D'oh!! thanks anyway

New printers installed and the valid access codes to print work really well, for the office anyway. but when i share a printer and script it to install, the valid access code on the server is not transfered and a new code has to be entered for every profile on every PC. i have spoke to Ricoh and they were helpfull but the advice they give me is when they return my call and i am usually offsite. any ideas? maybe a way to script the valid access code or anyone know how to remove restrictions on printing? Thanks in advance

Yea the videos play fine in quicktime and in iMovie until the transitions are added, i will speak to apple and see tho thanks

the machines have been built separately so don't think the reload would help really, the footage is off a hd camera any ideas how to make convert it for better performance? the footage is the same when copied from the macbook onto the pros and iv tried the admin account but not created a fresh one

imovie is up to date as is the OS, not networked and the spec is unreal : 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 3GB memory 640GB hard drive (550+ is free) NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 with 512MB macbook is: 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2GB DDR3 memory 250GB hard drive NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics so i really don't get it, Google suggests hardware issues but it would be on all 10?! i don't think so o also its not the clips because we have tried different formats and lengths but still the same issue arrises

hi guys, Right problem is with iMovie and transitions. When importing clips and sound its fine and plays fine but when a transition is added it crashes or skips part of the clips when playing. The strange thing is it happens on all 10 of the Mac Pros which were £3000 each only 6 month ago, so i know its the setup of the mac and not a hardware issue, also when the project was copied across to my macbook it plays fine, and the spec comparison is laughable. any ideas on how to fix this??

were currently looking at a program called flashmeeting, its web based and only requires flash. if anyone knows how to set this up a quikc how to would save me the job of looking into it tho The Flashmeeting Project

CHEERS that fixed it, the language was set to UK on there but US on the Text Services and Input Languages dialog so i was changing that. By ticking that box and clicking apply tho job done! thanks

nope no add to default button, iv deleted all the profiles on the pc and copied over a working default user profile from another pc. but still no joy, each time a new user is created there default language is set to US

Local administrator account was set to US. i would of thought my network admin would of show the pc settings instead of the account settings tho. Anyway after removing the us again and reboot its still the same!

At the logon screen the keyboard is set US, swapping the @ with ". When i log in the language is set to UK and the @ and " are in the right place, iv even deleted the US language option but its still doing it!! Any ideas?
