  14. You will need to tell BGinfo to modify the desktop background of the logon desktop (ctrl-alt-del screen). This setting will be stored inside the file c:\Temp\Wallpaper\MSH-DOM.bgi as soon as you select "File" -> "Save As" inside the BGinfo GUI. So, launch BGInfo. Click on the button "Desktops" in the lower righthand corner. Inside the "Desktops" dialogue box check your wallpaper modifications. There are three of them and each of these three items can have one of 3 settings. The 3 wallpaper modifications are: + User Desktop + Logon Desktop for Console users + logon Desktop for Terminal Services users The 3 settings for each modification are: + Update this wallpaper + Do not alter this wallpaper + Change this wallpaper to '(None)' Assuming your system is not a Terminal Server, you will need to change the item Logon Desktop for Console users to the value Update this wallpaper. Confirm by clicking on OK, then Apply. Save the modified settings to your BGI file as well.
  15. Try using BgInfo http://technet.microsoft.com

  19. To put your favorite image or picture in the background of the logon screen : Click the Start button and select "Run" In the "open" field, type regedit and click ok In the registry editor, navigate to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP and double-click the string "wallpaper" Enter the full path and filename of the .bmp image that you want to use as background (the image must be in .bmp format) Click "ok" and close the registry editor The changes take effect as soon as you log off and on again. http://www.windows-help-central.com/image-files/customized-windows-xp-logon-screen2.jpg
  20. Windows 7 install discs are edition-specific — if you've got a valid license key, you still need the right disc for installation. The ei.cfg Removal Utility, however, lets you create a new, universal installation ISO for Windows 7. Although your Windows installation disc may say "Home Premium Edition," it still contains the other versions (such as Pro or Ultimate) on the disc — it just has a very small file called ei.cfg that tells the disc what version to install. The ei.cfg Removal Utility creates a new ISO of your install disc that ignores this file, thus letting you choose what edition you want when you start the installer. While this tool is especially useful for computer technicians who have to install Windows a lot, it's also nice to have for those of us that tend to lose discs often—especially in this day and age of emailed product keys. Now, if you need to reinstall Windows but can't find your disc, you can just borrow a friend's—even if it's an edition that's different than yours. You just need let the installer know which edition matches your product key (Note: Your disc still needs to be the same kernel as your key (i.e. 32 or 64-bit). The ei.cfg Removal Utility is a free download, Windows only, and requires a Windows 7 install disc to use win7utils - http://code.kliu.org/misc/winisoutils/ So use a pro disk to make your enterprise disk!
