@GrumbleDook So far all you seem to have done is question people's concerns and worries about integrating them into their own specific environments. Hardly any schools will have a 1:1 iPad:student ratio so these things have to be shared. I too have some of these concerns for most of the reasons above. If you have a working solution for managing them properly and effectively, allowing access to student files and work areas (which is expected by teachers and SLT) and deploying apps easily then please share it with us rather than adopting the rather high and mighty stance that you seem to have taken over this. I could of course grabbed the wrong end of the stick entirely HBJB

We've got an older version of that here and I have to say that in all the years it's been installed it's been great. I also haven't had to replace anything on it yet (bulb etc). I'd have them everywhere if we could afford it. HBJB

We use a remote app as our primary SIMS for all users in school and out. You do need Office installed on the TS server(s). We had a few issues with NT6 but apart from that everything works fine including Discover and FMS. We have two servers load balanced for general use (VMs) and a couple more for web apps and gateway (VMs). A heads up on an issue with TS and SIMS reports that took a while to track down: If when running a report for the second and subsequent times (the first one works) gives the error 'Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object' it's related to MS Hotfix 2553912. Having just got back from Silverstone I cannot fault the track and the staff at all. They were sympathetic, helpful and generally top notch. The camping however could have been better organised if a wet weather plan had been devised. This could have prevented the following: Firstly the car park was about a mile from the campsite, only had one row that had any boards laid down for traction and was already churned up on Thursday. Most people had to do four or five trips per person from car to tent to get all their gear in - this didn't help the mud situation at all. Although I understand the reason for not letting cars park next to the tents it might have been easier and probably would have caused less foot traffic and therefore less mud churning to let them park at the top of the field they were parked in. More loo blocks (that don't leak into the mud ). Better paths (stones rather than sandy/dirt stuff). A decent exit strategy: I queued for about four hours to get out while cars were being pushed and pulled in all directions through the mud. It was so muddy tractors were getting stuck. All the while the camper vans were being let out first from a different field. If this was a planning thing then people should have been informed so. The piece of paper we were given just said the car park exits would be open. Having said that there was no ill temper from anyone and the car park staff were also great. Certainly the rain that had been constant before Thursday didn't help, nor the previous events held there in the past weeks. The fields simply could not recover in time. My tent virtually slid down the campsite on top of a river of mud. I was cold, wet and a bit fed up for most of the weekend but at least the sun came out for the duration of the race. Sadly I wasn't expecting it and got my head and nose burnt Freak events compounded by no respite. That's all. HBJB

Funny you should post that because I saw a load of them just last week and had to do a double take. They were protecting roadside spaces so that the funeral procession could all park together. HBJB

Over all I like it but there is one thing that's irritating me and that's the fact that when I scroll down a topic I loose the first 6 or 7 posts and I can't seem to get them back without going back to the menu and re-selecting the thread again. Then it happens again! Me no likey that feature. HBJB

Is it just me of does the 'Distribute Adobe Products' web page not work? My subscription ran out and I have to re-apply but after I diligently fill in the form the 'Accept and Submit' button is still greyed out and no combination of changes makes it work. HBJB

I'm actively looking at the moment too (still) and Dell, for example, will give you an operating lease that expires whenever but you either give the kit back or you pay for an 'indefinite' hire period which includes the right to dispose of the equipment yourself when you no longer need it. Effectively you then own it. I'm not looking at leasing from a cost point of view really but from a refresh view. Historically kit here gets used far beyond its shelf life and this is the only way we can get a refresh into the budget. HBJB

It's not the FBI warnings that I object to so much (although they are a bit annoying) it's paying for a DVD and then getting crap loads of adverts that are also un-skippable. Anyone with kids will know who the main culprits are but it's becoming more prevalent - and I'm not talking rentals here but fully purchased retail DVDs / Blue rays. I can understand it in the cinema and I can sort of tolerate it on rentals but I don't want it on my own copies!. I've just given you a load of money - don't ruin the film experience. Grrrrr!! HBJB
