Hi all, Can I just clarify something with this post, when I said it was likely to be full time I meant that if there are projects ongoing and extra days are required then they will be paid for these extra days and it could equate to full time hours. There is no guarantee that this role would ever be full time. Sorry for being misleading and I hope I haven't put anyone off.

I would demand that the company you purchased these from come down and sort it out. After all you specified you wanted Windows 7. This is why i'm grateful I've got an EES licensing agreement with a KMS server but I know in terms of expense this isn't fiesable for everyone.

The post holder will be working to support any IT and AV issues within the school and deputize for the IT Support Leader in their absence. Hi all, I have installed Easiteach Next Generation on our Windows 7 image and rolled this out to all workstations. This software requires individual activation and serialization much like the Adobe products (CS6). I have managed to serialize Adobe (with some issues along the way). However I haven't had a chance to look into Easiteach Next Generation. Is anyone here able to provide me with a quick solution to this problem? Thanks James

I'd try a software restriction policy with a path rule to the location where it is stored. If the same user does it again, just create them a personalised restriction policy which only allows notepad to be opened.. mo hahaha!

My thoughts exactly. Phone up your nearest take away WEEE waste for free and pass you a certificate of disposal and data destruction. It will cost you more in time and effort. I have also been known to pass equipment onto other schools who need it.

Sorry to bump an old thread but these have just saved me some grief!

I just blocked most things from students home folders and just made safe folders within a shared drive if anything needs to be saved which might get flagged by the filters. No need for complex hash rules, just set path rules.

I implemented quotas this summer after getting fed up with clearing drive space 16 times in one year! We now have the following: KS3 Students - 500Mb KS4 Students - 1Gb KS5 Students - 1.5Gb Staff 4Gb SLT 6Gb Students studying specialist photography and media courses get a separate drive with their name on where they can store their photos or saved iMovie projects on. This is on a 1TB drive which is monitored by the course tutors who will also use this area to collect in and check students work as they go along. They will also check that they are using the space appropriately.

We are looking to recruit an E Learning Support assistant. This role is for a person who is experienced in primarily Apple based technologies such as iPads, Music software (logic and Sibelius), iMovie as well as Microsoft software, software and web apps administration, first line support and training support. The post holder will be Administering online and locally based applications such as Google Apps, SAM Learning and other educational applications. The post holder will be responsible for providing training to all users on a one to one and group session basis. The post holder has the responsibility for maintaining all training materials and ensuring these are fit for purpose. Hi there, as the name will be assocaited with a current SSID in AD renaming another DC to the same name will cause issues (I can't remember the full explaination but I was taught by an MCSE never to reuse the same domain controller names more than once in a domain). What you need to do is call the new controller DC02 instead of DC2. Trust me on this its not worth taking the risk!

Why are some NMs in a rush to roll out the latest server/workstation OS? Ok its good to be ahead with technology but where technology hasn't been able to "mature" if you like you could end up with a few problems which may take up a lot of time and cause disruption to users to fix. With schools these days that disruption leads to a lot of lost teaching time. We are still running XP workstations which I would have migrated over to Windows 7 this summer, however as I have had to migrate to a vanilla Server 2008R2 Domain this summer and there will be teething issues I felt expecting users to learn a new operating system at the same time wasn't the right way to do it. We will however be testing Windows 7 with a group and classroom of users before going live school wide.

I am planning to have SCCM on the same server as WSUS, will this be fine or should I reconsider?

Hey, sorry its taken me ages to reply but I think someone has already provided the solution for you. Its the 3D graphics time out. Netsupport V10 tends to knock this out. If your still having issues let me know and i'll PM you the fix I use.

Although I don't get much time to spend on this website during the day. I think this site has saved our schools thousands of pounds and helps us all provide a high quality of service to our schools. This helps us show that in-house IT staff will always be the best way to go.

Any of you using Net Support or other remote desktop software?

kudo deploys fine for me as long as the XNA Framework goes first. Also if your using Netsupport 9 or 10 ensure that this hasn't turned the 3D settings off (there is a registry fix for this)

If you cleared local profiles from the affected laptop does this solve the issue?

It worked for me so you'll be fine

it sounds like the laptop is trying to use a cached password in that image you have put up. I would first check no passwords were saved whilst you were creating the base image of the laptop. Also when this issue happens did the students laptop disconnect from the network on the wireless? Also check group policy and ownership on the students folders.

what you worried about? I'm 28 and I drive a 9 year old Citroen Xsara that was someone else's trade in that I fixed up. Since i've had it, its had doors opened into it, its been rammed in the car-park TWICE. Full of dents and scratches which are not my fault and had paint thrown over it. My advice, get a 2 grand car with low mileage that's average. Parts will be cheap, insurance reasonable but sadly people will still scratch it.. arrgghh!
