The way I do it here (May be better ways but...) Is have a folder on the local machine with shortcuts to programs specific to that machine. This folder is stored in C:\ and named the same on all machines. I then have a shortcut in the network start menu to C:\localfolder. It's a bit of a work around but works here as we don't have many 'per machine' programs.

They are, we are only having this problem with ActivPrimary. Maybe it's something to do with the way ActivPrimary saves?

Hi All A few members of staff have been saving files and appending the date to the end, using dots to separate it (e.g. filename 17.12.10). This is then obviously confusing the system (windows xp) as to what type of file it is. I've been asked to sort it out. I've mentioned to staff not to save using filenames so we shouldn't run into this issue again. Now, my main question. Is there any software that will allow me to do a batch file name change on selected folders changing all '.' to '-' and appending the extension '.flp'? All the files that need to be changed are active primary .flp files and are located in their own separate folder so no other file types will be affected. Thanks, Dan

Have you run the fog prep tool? If you go to http://servername/fog/client there should be a link to Fog Prep. I've never done this as I do not use Win7 but it states on that page that it must be run on Win7 machines. Maybe someone who has iimaged Win7 machines can shed more light onto this.

Done that many times. We have a lot of Dell printers too and I'm trying to find a way to do it on those before 01/04/2011, but that's another thread.

We had a break in recently where someone tried to do a smash and grab. They got into the classroom and tried to take the Dell OptiPlex 745 that’s mounted onto the monitor but couldn't as all the cables were tangled underneath the desk. Obviously if they had spent time disconnecting everything they would have made off with it, but with the alarm ringing they decided to leave it. Tangled Cables FTW.

I think the main thing that drew us to subscription is it's a much smaller sum of money at the outset. eg. either spend £11,000 in one go (most of our IT budget) or £2,000 yearly. Yes we will probably end up paying more if we stay on the same version too long but it's the only way we can afford it. I can't wait for EES.
