Hi, Has anyone had any issue with gmail imap and thunderbird since the new https filtering that requires importing the YHGfL certificate has been implemented? Thunderbird refuses to download new mail today and I don't know if it's related to that. I've imported the .crt into thunderbird. Thanks,

Can you disable the DHCP server on the PiNet and let your main DHCP server handle it? If they're on the same network the Pis should still be able to access the internet.

This line from their website I've never used it but according to this line you should be fine.

Ah yes, I have both server and client on one device.

I used to have this setup but I found when I turned the TV off it would also shutdown the Pi and stop recording etc. Ended up using the netbook and bought a cheap IR receiver and remote.

I use Kodi (not 100% needed for this) and TVHeadend for this. I have a small netbook in the tv cabinet with a usb DVB tuner. I use it to stream and record TV channels. Usually I stream them onto my iPad when someone is watching something rubbish on the main TV. Or used to playback recorded shows on the main TV.

Are you looking for amplification or for recording?

Looks like LAG is what's going to be best. We have netgear switches which look easy enough to configure LAG. I'm presuming it needs to be configured at both ends.

Networking noob time. Can you connect two switches with two cables? I'm sure I've had them both connected and the switches just freaked out, like a network storm.

Hi All, I know there's been a lot of posts about VLANS but can't see one similar to my question. I'm pretty new to VLANS but think I understand the basics. Basically we have two buildings, the one with the servers and router in works at an acceptable speed, the other can be a bit slow. My main concern is that our admin office is in the second building and access to the network and SIMS can be at times a bit slow. Currently everything from building 1 to building 2 goes via a single copper cat 5e cable supposedly running at a gig. We do have a second cat 5e cable that follows the same route that is not in use. If I have this second cable and the admin office on a separate VLAN to the rest of the building and set the servers and printers to trunk ports for both VLANS would this work? In other words can I send the admin office traffic down one cable to the main switch and the rest of the building down another and see improvements on speed? I know in an ideal world we would link the buildings via fiber but, at least for now, this isn't an option. Thanks,

On our Ruckus guest WiFi we block everything but ports 443, 80 and 3128. This just allows web traffic and proxy port.

The lapcabbies are good for this. They have a timer built in (or at least all that I've had) that can be set to charge for certain times a day. We have ours set for over night and lunch time.

We have two banks of 15 laptops. I've seen massive improvements since replacing our netgear wireless with Ruckus. We still have the odd issue but our laptops are getting old now (one set has got to be about 8 years old but still work ok). Our biggest problem is staff/students not putting them away correctly so they have no charge for the next class.
