hi all i tried to a mate a favour this afternoon went round his place and he has had a load of cat5 cable put in by the electricians bascially it goes one from one room to another downstairs to upstairs and is terminated at each end with wall sockets. at the server end there is a wireless router with four ports and he wants to connect the downstairs sockets to the router so that he can put cables from the sockets upstairs to pcs and get a wired connection. problem is when we did that we got no ip address although we can connect direct to router and get one so there must be something a miss with the cabling or we need a switch or something in between can any enlighten me i've looked to long at it and am going slowly mad.

ah i used it as a test on a windows 2003 terminal server it worked great, two weeks later that server when pair shaped (citrix bust it! when i ried to uninstall citrix with the service disabled) and so i used the virtual one in place of it, absolutely priceless as it was our home school link up, so i am obviously a massive fan of it now.

does this forum comply? do you guys hand code your cms 's ?

@plexer been there done that failed dismally,so i know i need to get my house in order but where to start, particularly as mambo,joomla etc doesn't seem to meet the requirements.

Hi all, i recently had a call from a company offering to build me a new school website, ours is not brilliant but it suffices, built on a mambo platform, i was reminded/informed that our site is not dda compliant and should be, does anyone know what this involves, how i can make my mambo site compliant, if i swap to joomla are these dda compliant? thanks as always in advance.

sorry forgot to add tscals are notional arn't they so if i need any more i can order them and that would cover me until they arrive, ie they don't get installed at terminal server (do they?)

@geoff 40 or so heres another idea i had create virtual server form existing terminal server change sid etc and run on high spec machine that way i have the same config etc and can just point some of my clients toward the new server, then buy new server and just whack the virtual machine on it?

thats going to be my last resort but i wanted to use my citrix licences(given that i have paid for them).

hi there we have a a server which we have citrix presentation server on which i have 25 licences on for my staff to use at home. but as the server is sat doing nothing all day i reuse it as a terminal server which was working so well i got carried away and now hava most of my old crappy machines converted to thin clients. The problem that i have is that because i only have 25 citrix licences i can't connect any more than 25 users via rdp ?? which seems a little weird that citrix can control this? is there away around it? i'm aware i will need another server soon enough but have to have a tempoary solution in place by monday. i have considered stopping the citrix services (or uninstalling for now).

i just downloaded some software which when installing asked me if i wanted to recieve alerts and asked for details of an smtp server on the machine. i skipped past it, i always do, but i got to thinking i want to understand this a bit better. I have exchange server 2003 on the network but not on this machine, is this what its asking for or can i install an smtp server locally? am lost any advice as always appreciated.

how can i get a sql database out of single user mode(i forced it to do an upgrade) but now can't attach to it because of the single user restriction and it thinks someone else is logged on grrr

thank all i hvae added a new smtp address and changed her display name in ADUC so now she has two addreses but sends email from her new one.

Hi all we have a woman who got married so i have been asked to change her user name along with her email address is there a way i can have all mail that comes to her old address sent to her new address as well? she is heads PA so has loads of external contacts etc.Also i want to keep all her old emails etc.

what do you gain from this espada? if you want to project then surely you must have seperate projectors?

hi all does anyone use hp open view or has seen it used that can offer pro's cons usefull ness etc, we are having a new school built and have been asked have we considered it? i always thought it was very pricey and there were lots of other opesiurce alternatives that did most of what it can do. any advice or pointers please regards and thanks uraken

hi all i recently got my usb pen to work with bartpe (i use it to launch ghost ) as it seemed the only way to get around all the broken cd rom drives but can you belive (yes of course you can) that the students are now breaking usb ports so i figure if i can get bartpe to run/launch from ris that would get around the problem does any one know how i can do this please? thanks in advance as always [title changed to be more descriptive - tarquel]

I used to get this on my machines, it was only for some users though admin seemed ok, i eventually assigned a permanent drive letter to all usb pen drives and it went away so you could try that?

02 mini xda is brilliant, wireless connection, terminal services, office, email etc, the camera is not brilliant but other than that its great i even take school registers on mine.

i downloaded the latest version it seems ok although takes an age to start.
