msde will still be running sims took the decision to do a side by side install of sql 2005 not an inplace upgrade just in case you have other stuff other than sims that requires the msde still.

consultation at every level and openess is key here (we are a year into this exact process) i would suggest that you form an alliance with NM at the other place (despite any worrys about who gets the job in the new place etc etc) and work out what works well now, what you would like to see new. This will mean that you can both fight the same corner and start working together (this takes a huge weight off). I have the same worrys in terms of job etc but figure that there will be enough to do for everyone and the nature of academys means that the place will probally be open a lot longer allowing for shift managers etc.

this can be stopped by using a custom adm that maps a drive letter to the share being used as the redirected area instead of unc path (its a known windows error). i have attached adm for you.

can you do this for the wds boot images as well?

hi all i havn't touched access for years but have been asked to create a database that will allow our beahaviour support department to enter details of students that get sent to them and record why they were sent along with dates names etc, prefably imported from active directory and on a drop down list has anyone got something similar already devised or that can point me in the right direction please (PLEASE)

is it a traight upgrade path then? ie pop in 2005 and it does it itself or is there a almighty migration process (i worry to death whenever theres any major change to sims, why is that i wonder??)

I currently run full MS SQL server 2000 (not msde) do i need to upgrade this to full SQL server 2005 to be able run the latest sims releases or is it only those still running msde that need to upgrade? as always thanks in advance.

Hi all i am ccna passed with 100% (not trying to be bigheaded, more luck than anything)which really suprised me i went on a week long boot camp with the training camp having put myself through the paces before hand with as much pre-course material as possible. my advice: make sure you can subnet and supernet in your head, get plenty of hands on switches and routers, the sims are brilliant invest in them! get an exam cram to summarize it all.

i completed the first year three years ago and am looking to continue but like most can't come up with the reddies (even the payment plan is a coupple of hundred quid a month!)my work place sponsored me initially but it was only 600 quid then now its a lot more (which i think is unfair incidentally, i started the course at £600 i ought to be able to complete it at that or its a waste of time and effort).The course was very demanding and you need to be online most nights and during the weekend.

yeah thats what i'm starting to think webman although when i suggested that my mate didn't want to know and was adamament that they were ok i took my pinchers with me and checked the termination ends and to be fair it looked like a good job.

didn't try static ip address when i connect lappy it does not get dhcp ip address although when i connect same lappy direct to router it does so dhcp is fine and dandy.

thanks for the replys chaps: the cable runs are less than 100 m i have a cable tester and managed to get a almost (six out of eight lights lit upand it said i had a connection)decent connection on at least one of the sockets so used that as my tester. the router is set to dhcp and is netgear tried connecting patch cables to the router and then to a lappy at the top of the house.
