This is how it works so as to not to waste the engineers time... You report the fault. The fault gets raised. The part gets dispatched to your school Engineer confirms part on site Engineer then comes onsite and repairs problem and uses the part if necessary... Walla... Fault fixed and no wasted time with "it needs a part, i'll have to come back" stories...

We have been dealing with I-Desk for nearly four years….. After a lot of research and testing (intellidesk, desktec, Ergo etc) we found that nothing on the market is as nearly as good and as strong as the I-desk/I-Rise system.. So we have installed nearly 200 I-desks and I-rises on our site… We are a very tough school and we have had not one problem in 4 years with the furniture aspect of the i-desk system There have been some small issues with the PC’s (monitors and a dozen or so power supplies).. but EVERTYTHING has been fixed and replaced at no cost to us… All we do is make a phone call and within a couple of days an i-desk engineer is onsite repairing the kit… Now I am not saying that i-desk is always faulty.. it is not.. it's far from that ….. but every now and then we have a fault… just like we have a faults with our HP’s, Fujitsu’s RM’s and Dell’s…. Now lets compare I-desk help and support to Dell’s help and support….. …… exactly… I have never thrown my phone on the floor in rage with I-desk as I have with often with Dell and others…… In fact I have had nothing but good service with I-desk and our site will keep on investing in this company……. as the time, effort and money saved in having the i-desk systems on site is enormous… and this has had a positive impact on Teaching and Learning which is the bottom line..

If the RRC icon is in the bottom right you have to re install ranger and in the configuration file install in quiet mode (before installation) then Ranger is Invisible

Windows has a built in Backup for Exchange..... In the exchange settings you can configure the backup

well the photo's are where you put them as to put photos into SIMS you have to attach them from somewhere

We had an intruder last week.. Wheb=n a staff member walked through an accessed controlled door he caught the door before it closed and went through undetected.. He got about 15 paces before he was spotted and challenged by about 4 staff who cornered him and "escorted"him back..

we don't allow Staff Laptops onto the school network.... We hand it too them and don't want to see them again untill they leave..

The bottom line is for the price Lenovo Laptops are Sturdy and reliable.....

Our Attendance Admin Officer will kick the teachers butts if they do not have their registers done correctly. She has weekly meetings with the heads of years to point out the bad registers and teachers .. and the teachers are publicly named and shamed when they do not do the registers correctly....

No IT suites means mobile computing, means saving space & cabling costs, or that's at least what we are being told. It might also mean the end of courses dedicated to teaching ICT as a subject......... The Architects 'vision' for my school under BSF is no ICT rooms too, and no space for technicians or network manager either! The school and LA have a 'vision' (I call it a nightmare) of 1:1 ratio of computers to pupils; you could probably achieve it in technology terms using low cost Eee PCs as long as you ignore issues like safe storage in school, technical support, power management etc etc. You can have some sport with the 'experts' when you discuss Becta recommendations for pupil:technician support ratios scaled up to one device per end user knowing that the game plan is to reduce the level of onsite support in schools as part of BSF. The recent TV news items about the $100 labtops in Africa will continue to fuel the 1:1 student computer debate too. This is crazy... don't you have your ICT Senior Teaching Staff freaking out ? My Boss would have thier heads with this type of stupidity... my Boss is proud of his 13 ICT suites..

So there will be a lot of double entrying then..... the admin staff are going to love you... :twisted:

We buy Lenovo and they are good and value for money..... not had a problem yet... and we have 40.. £40.000.00 for storage.. are you nuts ? there is no justification for those massive costs... insane.... Ohhh.... it's for the ego...

OK I can get a 5TB server ofr under 4 Grand... and that's with 2 processors and multiple gig ports.. So how would haveing a SAN that 5 times the price justify not having a member server as a file server ? And how do you back up a 15TB SAN anyway ?

Actually I think thay are there to fleece you of money with consultancy fees...

Who the heck has that much just for storage.???? My boss would freak.. How many Proliants or Dell servers with 1tb raid 5 storage can you buy for that much....? About 15 I can get a DELL PowerEdge 2950 with Raid 5 and have 1tb space, 4gb RAM, fibre connectivity... for £2740 You get power and storage... So why invest in a storage box for 20 to 30K ?
