It seems that every 2nd Policy seminar at this years BETT is about how to get Managed ICT services and as well this year there is an entire section dedicated to the BSF called "Future Schools" and they are also having their own seminars on how to wipe out ICT Departments.. Great... so should I take my Bosses to BETT and show them to take my job away... now that is a tough question...

What's happened to all the BSF content ?

Sorry mate... but phone them up say that Edugeek is a work related tool..and TELL them to add the site to the local allow list ... This will still allow the LEA to keep to policy...and you'll have access to a Technician Tool

we also has some experiences in our build.. When standing in a partly built shell.. one gets the feel of the building that Teaching/Support staff don't get from the plans. you can then feel the flow, vibe and usage of the area.. But when you try to move a door 2m to the right to alleviate a bottleneck say the builders inform you that they have no design input and they will only build what is on the plans.. not a screw more or a screw less.. and they are cannot stop the build as it will cause delay and impact on the other phases.. Then starts the arduous task of trying to move the door.. One you have danced the dance it's too late anyway because the builders have finished the phase and you have the door (or whatever) in the wrong place.. heh heh

Right.. Your DC with the AD, FMSO roles and lets say your main SQL Database on and file server (300gb) has crashed and burned.. Which backup software would you have wished you had installed and set up on and what would it have been backed up too.. ?(not SANS)

and no computer suites...... and no corridors ...... Did you know, if you get rid of internal corridors and make the kids circulate round the outside of the building you might have enough classrooms to accomodate all of the kids in your school? Novel idea that. Oh .. they get far more novel than that. When designing buildings don't make corridors, but covered walk ways. That way they do not get included in the formula that calculates students against floor space to work out how much space you should have. Each building has multiple stairwell, each servicing only 2 upstairs rooms and all entrance doors to downstairs rooms are directly to the covered walk ways. A nightmare for security but has allowed some schools to actually have classrooms that are fit for purpose. Yes yes... Just like we realised that AFTER we put in the access control system there had to be a break glass by every controlled door... so where we wanted 2 way restriction failed as they could just push the break glass in and open the door..

and so we get the £500 toilet seat...

It seems that Northgate uses RM's CC3 and re brands it as Classroom 2000 C2K.. Beeswax I doubt that any onsite Technician would get Admin Passwords as this is one of their main money spinners...

I know how to access the Control Stetings... but I cannot find the one that says to deactivate the Trashbox... You wouldn't happen to know what it's under ..

I cannot find it in the Properties... how do I access it..

Hi I have a Terastation Pro and everytime a backup gets done the "overwritten" file goes to the Trashbox instead of being over written.... As you know this is filling up the Terastation very quickly as the file is supposed to be overwritten.. Is there a way to stop it going to the trashbox ?

It seems that the Technicians / Network Managers that have been TUPED / Assimilated no longer have the ability to speak...

We are on the LGFL and have access to the filtering system and all you do is add edugeek to the allow list...

Hi Is there a way in a logon bat script to un-map mapped drives that have are to be mapped in the script later on ? Bit like Con2prt deleting all printers and then adding them.?

i have this issue too however our other dc is a different domian (ADMIN DOMIAN) the circ domian has only on DC and is the dhcp server for the two domians. The two servers have zone transfer setup but when the circ server goes down them admin users cannot login. (our circ server is now 6 years old and supporting twice the number of clients too) I agree... but I hear people saying the reson for having 2 or more Domain Controllers so that if the a DC falls over the others will take it's place... Yet I have never been able to get another DC to take it's place.. How come Ranger gets installed on 2 DCs so that if one falls over the other will allow users to log on... yet it never seems to work.. My 3 DCs have AD, DNS, Printing roles installed..

What i am looking for is a simple hlpdesk that the staff can have a desktop short cut and add jobs ... It doesn't need authenticaton and the rest but just a simple shortcut to report a fault.. Ie for the teacher Room Fault Small Description Person Reporting Date and time Reported . and then there will be a more indepth front end for me to allocate a technician and then a bit for time finished and feedback Any ideas
