  1. It all depends on your organisations risk appetite, for us, downtime is not an option. When looking at redundancy, you need to not only be thinking about the line into the building, but what that is connected to - we have several leased lines, with the two main lines being served by completely different ducting, backbones and exchanges - so if our local exchange is effected, at least one of our lines should not. You could consider a 2.5G connection on a 10G bearer which is what one of our lines is, it is much cheaper than the 10Gb on 10Gb bearer.
  2. Looking at Card Exchange Cloud but it seems incredibly expensive - @River are you using the cloud version?
  3. We're surface pro for teachers - some staff love it, others don't and want more of a laptop form factor as they don't use its full features. I really want to love the surface more, but we have had a number of keyboard failures due to the connection design, especially staff who constantly flip it back as opposed to detaching. We've also had issues with performance, but that is mostly down to not doing 16Gb ram because we got an incredible deal. The snapdragon devices are really good and we're rolling out some of the Surface Laptop Snapdragon devices to support staff - if all your software supports Windows on ARM. The Samsung Book 360 range are really good too, they are a 360 hinge but don't have anywhere to store the S pen.
  4. Hi all, We're just in the process of setting up a new 3CX instance with Teams direct routing but running into an issue. We've followed the full 3CX guide to do this including; Users have been added to 3CX with their @comapany1.org email address Created a new FQDN for the Teams SBC (subdomain of teams.company2.org.uk) Added an A record for the teams FQDN to the public IP of the 3CX and resolves when you visit/ping Uploaded a public SSL for the FQDN to the 3CX Direct Routing Settings Assigned DDI's to users Run the PowerShell scripts to setup the teams SBC & users Connected the M365 sync and selected the users We've gone through all the steps they advise but running calls aren't going through. SBC in teams is showing as inactive but all the tests we've run have passed. I can see the calls in 3CX logs as terminated and in the Teams Admin Centre - they all say Warning: 499 3CXURL.3cx.uk "Caller is forbidden" Feel like I'm missing something obvious - any help appreciated! D
  5. How are you importing the calendar? Through a 3rd party such as Locker/Salamander?
  6. We're using our Meraki core stack for our DHCP. DNS forwards to either our firewall (then onto PDNS) or directly to PDNS. Haven't had any issues with the setup since it was implemented.
  7. We use Fiber HDMI cables from the board to the faceplate (between 8-15m), with a HDMI module (Vision) then a standard HDMI cable between the faceplate and the device/docking station. Seems to work well for us. FIBBR 8K HDMI Fiber Optic Cable 5M, 48Gbps 8K@60Hz I know they are more expensive, but you have to think about the costs of IT staff constantly visiting classrooms to diagnose technical issues - which soon adds up!
  8. We've seen similar performance issues with the cloud filter extension, but tends to effect our device when you open edge for the first time after a reboot - takes up to 20 mins to start working, and as we have a SharePoint page as our homepage it rarely loads anything during that time. Haven't had it when publishing changes. I have raised with smoothwall and they advised they couldn't replicate the issue and wanted us to do some testing. Unfortunately it was causing such a negative impact we had to remove it for staff devices temporarily, so haven't been able to do any more testing yet - was going to look into it over the summer.
  9. We have a wireless casting solution which allows us to embed a URL as the background of the device, We used https://player.trilbytv.co.uk (PWA) as the background, and then setup every room as a device as a player within trilby. As our casting solution is the default option in every room when the screen turns on, teachers turn on the screen and it will display the TrilbyTV content with the room connection information overlaid (with the pin etc) so they don't have to interact with anything else.
  10. I mean, they work and are cheap... tick all the boxes for me!

  12. Secondary here - been full Intune for 2-3 years. We took a Cloud First with SaaS where possible, so we didn't do things like migrate our Papercut MF server to an Azure VM - in that example we moved to Uniflow online. However, we were unable to change our MIS in time so we have a work around solution for that, but it means that all end user devices are Intune and the 1 legacy solution we need to support is tightly integrated with 365 so staff can seamlessly sign in etc - but that is only a short term until we can move to a full cloud MIS. Take time to streamline and get rid of any legacy software (thinking science departments..) and push as much as you can to web apps where possible. It has been pretty seamless for us - we use device policies as opposed to user policies. Accounts for things like computer science were a bit of a challenge but we've managed to streamline all of that utilising Senso cloud to lock down the device. You could always look to take a phased approach, student devices first with staff after.
  13. We use ePlatform: eBooks and Audiobooks in School Libraries
  14. CTouch here too... standard classroom config. Connect to device either wirelessly or with USB C docking station. Staff also have a 2 in 1 device so if they need intricate detail (e.g. Art) they can choose to draw on directly on the screen of their device. Art do have a couple of projectors for tracing outlines etc but they just bring those out when they need them.
  15. @SIMS_Customer_Support Most of us still can't even get onto the portal. We managed to get 1 person on, however they can only see 1 school and SIMS Support advised our emails can't be registered to more than 1 school and it should have been setup as a MAT login... but no one seems to actually be helping resolve it.
  16. Just interested in how other schools which use SALTO Space are bulk designing, printing and enrolling cards. At the moment it is a very manual process so would like to see if we can improve it! Thanks D
  17. The support number is 0333 015 0212 but there is a long queue....
  18. We're getting the same eligibility key too - I've been trying to access the portal since it went live an can not login.

  20. We have some Snapdragon devices and Smoothwall Cloud Filter, Smoothwall Monitor and Senso cloud all appear to work correctly.
  21. Same as @DrCheese, we don't restrict student printing.
  22. SIMS Connected - How to use A2C in SIMS Connected I believe you launch it form the Application launcher within the remote session - that is how we did it with SCOMIS. It was all hosted within that.
  23. Not much help - but having recently looked into this your findings are correct. It is worth noting if you are using SIMS as your general ledger you will need to ensure the new solution does that too unless that can be achieved by your finance system. Another one is I looked at was Furlong FeeMaster | Streamlined School Fee Management Solutions - not sure if it is viable option.
  24. Something like Informacast which can centralise lots of different products for mass notification might be useful Mass Notification System, InformaCast - Singlewire Software
