We don't have printing in IT suites usually, however it is similar for our computer science. We just put a printer in the room for the exam and map it via a powershell script. The followme is then the backup option. Works well.

Hi all, Currently going through a round of procurement for some new staff devices. We had started to roll out Snapdragon devices (which I have to say were perfect for us) however those devices are now end of sale and I can not obtain any more of the device type we wanted. The new device has a choice between the Intel or AMD, we have always previously brought Intel, but the cost difference between the two is about £160 per device (Intel U7 being more vs AMD Ryzen 7) and I'm not sure I can justify this given the quantity we will be buying - these devices would be for teaching staff. So, is anyone running AMD for the majority of staff and if so do you have any compatibility/performance issues? TIA Dave

We've had this, but it is not just apple... we have had surface devices ordered at a set price and just before delivery the prices changed and if we wanted them - we had to pay the uplift charge of the difference. To add insult, the manufactured date was last year so they've just sat in a warehouse! I currently have another surface order that if it isn't delivered by the end of this month I have been told I will have to pay the 'new' price for them.. it's crazy at the moment.

We use testfiltering.com and http://test.mysmoothwall.net/ in addition to loading known blocked websites as agreed with the DSL on a termly basis - from a range of accounts on a range of devices. For example, we heavily use 888.com or other known blocked websites - we also then cross check on the live logs as well to provide evidence certain categories are being blocked correctly for websites we wouldn't want to load. For monitoring, we use the smoothwall test phrase to generate a Level 5 alert, again on a range of devices and different user accounts and save the evidence from the monitor portal.

@Ditto Pretty much all our teaching staff are using next gen. There are however still some things teachers need to go into SIMS7 for, such as invigilation cover and some pupil reports for attendance.

We used to use them a couple of years ago, as Fox said, engineers are great - however we too have moved to Canon direct.

Ours was a conflict between Senso Cloud + Smoothwall, disabling senso cloud resolved the issue on devices and we are moving them over to Senso V2.

Hi all, Bit of an odd one... We have a fully Intune-managed estate which has been working well for several years. Starting this week, we've seen a small number of devices randomly lose their policies and apps. In some cases all policies disappear, while in others only specific policies seem to be affected. For example, on Monday three devices lost policies: One device lost all Intune policies. One device lost all Intune policies except the Microsoft Edge policy. One device lost only the Wi-Fi and wallpaper policies. Today, another device lost all policies except the Microsoft Edge policy. Intune reports that all policies are successfully installed, the devices are syncing correctly, and everything appears up to date. Interestingly, Intune also reports that there are no managed apps on the affected devices. We've looked through the logs, Event Viewer, and the Intune Management Extension logs, and we're seeing entries such as: MDM ConfigurationManager: Command failure status. Configuration Source ID: (3248DC4F-F03B-43CD-8CA6-C1533722889C), Enrollment Type: (MDMDeviceWithAAD), CSP Name: (LAPS), Command Type: (Clear: first phase of Delete), CSP URI: (./Device/Vendor/MSFT/LAPS/Policies/PasswordLength), Result: (Unknown Win32 Error code: 0x86000002). What's particularly strange is that if we simply rename the device, it immediately starts receiving all policies again, usually within five minutes. While that's a workable fix, I'd like to understand the root cause before the issue becomes more widespread. Has anyone seen anything similar or got any ideas on where to look next? Thanks, D

We've had this issue recently, but only one stone micro PC's... they would work for 5 mins then stop! We reimaged and they started working again.

We're fully SharePoint. A standard 1:1 device is 256GB and then for shared devices they are mixed with 256/512Gb. I think only a handful of times we've come across disk space issues on the 256 devices and that is the profile clean-up policy wasn't applying correctly. However, we do also try and reimage our devices (particularly shared devices) every year or two.

@mrstrong No downsides for skipping autopilot from my side. We block personal device enrolment via enrolment restrictions and they are identified as corporate devices in Intune with our process. All still working well - we have been following this process for 3-4 years. We have found device name in the OOBE can be different depending on what make/model the device is. For example we get it on Surface Pro 8's but we don't get it on Surface Pro 9's or specific models of Dell laptop but we just change it on the device after enrolment if it does not appear in OOBE.

We deploy devices using a dedicated enrolment account with the Microsoft Entra Joined Device Local Administrator role. Just use it to login to Windows on the OOBE (not autopilot). This works well for us and all software and policies deploy and work correctly.

We've just provided some DJI Osmo Nanos for this purpose and they seem to be happy with them.

We've recently had a 100v line system installed. A full IP based system was too expensive (we had in excess of 250 speakers to setup) We went with Bosch speakers, Cloud Amplifiers paired with ALGO 8301 for announcements/bell scheduling. We were BODET but didn't think it gave the flexibility we needed where as algo has much more flexibility for us (e.g. announcements via VOIP extension)

We don't have an issue here with 2 SIMS databases. I would recommend calling to prompt a response on your open ticket.

When we moved all our devices into Intune, we looked at deploying SIMS to devices but decided against it. Mainly due to upgrades of the SIMS client every term, logistics of off site access with that etc. We moved SIMS into a remote desktop cluster which has been working really well.

We've always had a significant delay with forcing library sync via InTune which might be what you are seeing? Here they either add it manually - or we now recommend the user adds a shortcut to their OneDrive to access them from there.

Sorry, can't comment on the Google vs Microsoft - but you can prevent users joining personal devices to the tenant via a simple enrolment restriction.

What is it saying in the Entra sign in logs? What are the conditional access policies saying are being applied to the login? Is there any risk level associated with the sign in?
