  1. I will also talk to the person who does it here and see if I can steal the mailmerge (like as if I need permission I helped design the formulas for it) and email it to you. pm me your email address
  2. This was my reaction when senior management decided to go cashless at our school. All parents are offered parent pay accounts however they decided because of a handful of students parents who don't have home computers or the Internet at home the school spent £2000 on a reval machine. You would think that for those handful they could pay direct to finance (who have access to their cc account). When it was installed the kids sae it as wow new shiny cash thing lets use it. We now take in more cash now then we did before we went cashless. mind boggles
  3. It doesn't work. Tried it before. Just easier to deploy within s3 and I have never had any issues with any of my client agents
  4. I don't think you can mailmerge off multiple tabs. I would merge all the data in to one sheet then create a lookup value which distinguishes which certificate they are issued based on the score range they are in. Then as clareq said filter the recipient list based on the which certificate you are printing. You can even filter by class also if you want to collate by class
  5. A couple things 1) Idle mode is going to give you varied results as the computer is very rarely idle especially for 6 minutes. it is likely that it is executing other "idle" tasks which may or maynot appear in task scheduler 2) what are you asking the task schedule to execute on idle? Script? executable? My opinion is task scheduler is not the best solution for your needs especially an idle task. AUP is a statement to the end user that such activity is not tolerated. This sort of thing needs to be prominent where the user can not avoid looking at it either by an interactive logon text or my suggestion is designed on to the desktop background. you don't want to give the user the excuse they haven't seen the AUP the first would have been the best solution as it requires the user to ok through the prompt to continue logon however you are not in a domain and as I'm sure I have read you use shared users. (single user account for all) therefore the latter is would be ideal prominent for the setup you have. Granted deploying a desktop background on to a load of computers would be time consuming but as your not in a domain any solution would be just as time consuming.
  6. Why not design the aup into the desktop background.
  7. You may want to add a pause in otherwise your not going to be able to read it.
  8. If you are using you smoothwall host name. Try it's ip address in mis sync. PP have also being up to no good recently updating thing and breaking them so don't be surprised if that is the issue.
  9. VeriCool have quoted us £35+ £15 P&P + VAT to send the note loader back or £350 + £35 +VAT for an engineer to come out and replace So yes I think you are being truly ripped off
  10. found the link for the manual uninstall https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/vilath/2015/06/17/azure-ad-sync-unable-to-install-the-synchronization-service/ also use this if you are installing on a 2012r2 box and you have a proxy https://blog.kloud.com.au/2016/05/24...5-0-and-above/
  11. was exactly my thinking when it screwed up on mine. probably the reason why MS advise having at least 2 dc on a network. lol Good luck
  12. I never got anything in the logs either. I even got information logs that ad connect had successfully repaired. it lied... here is the thread I started http://www.edugeek.net/forums/cloud-services/171203-azure-ad-connect-upgrade.html
  13. I second this vote. works really well here
  14. Funny this happened to me but everytime I tried to uninstall and reinstall in I always got invalid class. I had to manually uninstall remove all registry keys. I ended up reinstalling ad connect on another server
  15. I would not expect to pay any more than £10 each for a fibre patch I have just been quoted £6.30 for 2m 50/125 om3 (may have been om4 actually)
  16. My opinion of interactive tv over interactive projectors is whilst the quality and maintenance is far superior on the TV there are physical teaching limitations. The interactive projectors allow for a standard whiteboard to be fitted for those teachers who prefer to annotate with a pen or dont want to project their screen and do some back to basic teaching can do so. Also in the event of a power outage they still have the tool to teach old skool
  17. Does your proxy not support this feature Smoothwall you can create rules that block/relax policies. we have a rule that allows pupils to access games etc during lunch hour but in the same way you can throw out a blanket block between 1200 and 1300
  18. Correct if you remove mailbox this deletes the user. Not just the mailbox I have done it myself thinking it would as it says remove mailbox but no...
  19. Open ADSI Action > Connect to... Under Connection point > check radio button Select/type a DN or CN type DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=domain,DC=school,DC=sch,DC=uk[/Code] this will add it to the tree in the left hand pane under the name default naming context Cn=infrastructure should appear in the root of that tree
  20. Is this after an image deployment or did you walk in one day to find them bsod. if the later have you looked at windows update for a rogue update? if the first is this through wds or something similar Has any drivers been injected in to WDS (may not be related to the hardware set) whilst it is the correct driver for another hardware set it may causing a conflict with the symptomatic hardware set
  21. Solus 2 or 3? We run Solus 3 and I have deployed sims and discover to a windows 10 machine (my own) without any issue. cant say I have tried FMS but cant imagine this would be any different. the only issue I seem to experience with Solus 3 and windows 10 is that it always appears offline in the deployment manager but will continue to update through s3 without fault. never been too concerned to find out why, I assumed that the manager is just indicating a false negative.
  22. Just noticed you have sql 2014: are you running sql in compatibility mode as in the past 2014 has been known to have performance issues. I know it doesn't match your symptoms but don't eliminate it as a cause. I am assume this is still capita's solution to those performance symptoms
  23. I understand exactly your predicament. I have been in this awkward situation many years where I used to tell the end user there is problem when there wasn't just to avoid accusing her of doing it wrong (for some reason they get super defensive when you question the way they do their work). Thankfully I am on the same page with our reports editors where I can banter with her and tell her straight that she is being a numpty so that does have its advantages. in your situation you don't have to be unprofessional. I would explain to her that you have opened a support ticket with capita or whoever your sims support is with and you are waiting for their response however in the meantime would she mind if you shadowed her and see if you can replicate the symptoms. doing this will assist everyone in getting the problem resolved asap. Although in my experience it does sounds very much user related in all the years I have assisted our reports editor I have never had random reports not save, I would never assume that it is user related unless i have evidence to suggest it as it could well be a server/client fault. Witness it yourself happening and you will be in a better position to advise accordingly. It is likely, that if it is user related, you wont be able to replicate the symptoms as the end user will be more focused knowing that you are looking out for any tell tail signs of the fault occurring. Good luck
  24. Can you be sure the person editing is actually saving the record. Have you witness this happening yourself. Despite what the end user claims, I to had various problems with our proof reader and turned out when i shadowed her that she wasn't saving half of them because she was too occupied trying not to miss a spelling mistake. I suggested that she have someone sit over her a junior or someone just as a fresh set of eyes to ensure she kept focused on such a repetitive task. Having said that the only issue we sometimes had was during generation of the profiles they would suddenly stop half way thru. Not crash but stop generating. This I found closing sims and purging the temp and local temp folder on the computer she was working and start generating again resolved the issue. Dont know why it does it but summized it is down to a file lock where the files are generated
  25. if times like these are proof enough it is always good to have a WSUS server on hand. With Remote management and a lot easier to schedule updates to be deployed out of hours or (as I do) during the school holidays. minimize the risk of disruption
