Back when we were using Active Directory IT staff use standard user accounts and elevate when needed to a separate account with a complex password - Conditional access\ roles setup (created new groups as needed, and followed all the usual best practices.) More information on your environment and user size might help others with their answers (remote access tool like Senso or other is always useful)

Network/Fibre Cabling Documention
Frodo_Baggins replied to StephenPink's topic in How do you do....it?
I use Visio with and have similar maps that can be layered on for fibres, cabs, and AP's - I've got a separate excel document setup that we update with switches\ patch panels and corresponding ports in rooms (something like the above with all room ports would get quite messy in a med-large school IMO) -
Thanks, I would deploy the user client but it doesn't seem to start automatically once installed - Would automatic charging working on the PD client If I selected on the user account to automatically charge to a shared account? It's a bit of a pain that the PD client doesn't support this, as my users are desktop based and hot desk around to different classrooms a lot - they would need to sign into the PD client and the user client for every new PC they sign into.

Recently pushed out Print Deploy for papercut for users as we moved to Intune however it doesn't seem to support the prompt for charging to accounts like the full client did - does anyone already using Papercut and Intune mind sharing what they do? We used to deploy the full Papercut client, create accounts for departments and then run an end of month report Would deploy the full Papercut client but this seems to have other issues judging by comments on help articles

Mind sharing what you set? I've enabled the Onedrive\SharePoint policy "Exclude specific kinds of files from being uploaded" and then added keyword with wildcard but still seems to be happening (applied to all devices)

Hi Steve, did you find anything later for Intune for this? I'm getting this with a few users and likely not related but they are saying that it's slowing down their PC's.

Inspiron vs latiude laptop for primary school
Frodo_Baggins replied to steveritus's topic in Hardware
We've got a mix latitude 3510/20/40 and all have been rock solid so far, any issues that crop up are easily dealt with via Dell Tech Direct. Wouldn't use Inspiron unless for students and on a tight budget if they were a lot cheaper. -
Papercut Sync - hosted in AD syncing users from Azure
Frodo_Baggins replied to Frodo_Baggins's topic in Educational Software
Looks like I'm now running into known issue PO-656 - my policies are user based, could you dm with contact details for the team you mentioned please? Thanks! -
Papercut Sync - hosted in AD syncing users from Azure
Frodo_Baggins replied to Frodo_Baggins's topic in Educational Software
Thanks, sure enough it is MFA - AADSTS50076, do you know if there any other changes needed? I've excluded the Papercut directory sync app from our conditional access policies and updated named locations but still getting that error in papercut log (SSO works fine.) -
Morning, Not sure if being fobbed off, thoughts? Papercut server hosted in AD, all end user devices or in Microsoft Endpoint Manager with Print Deploy installed. I changed the sync source from Papercut to Azure AD which seems to have worked fine but Print Deploy will not accept credentials nor will the admin web interface (Microsoft SSO works fine.) My re-seller has said it's not possible as the server is still in AD.... I'm sure I had this setup at a previous school (not doing hybrid with aliasing and client has been re-installed) Cheers,

Having used both Arbor & Bromcom at different schools I would go with Arbor in the future - It might have been the rollout at the time but learning curve from SIMS to Bromcom seemed to be quite big and staff seemed to struggle whereas SIMS\Go4schools to Arbor seems to have been quite quick for staff and everything seems to be "where it should be" in the UI. Would disagree on the usual comments of Arbor being a primary school MIS, they have put a lot of work in and ticks all the boxes for me in a medium-large secondary school (good Intergrations, support & support qualifications for IT\ DM CPD, clean UI without continuous changes like Bromcom at the time, and very easy to use.) Sure it will come down to what leadership decide (as it should really) and tender but anything is better than SIMS and SOLUS!

Adobe Creative Cloud In School
Frodo_Baggins replied to cheekycharly's topic in Educational Software
In the package creator you can specify a list of apps to deploy (one installer that initialises once and installs the list.) or self service, different use cases - we have a set list of CC apps to deploy to suites and certain teaching PC's and then self service on staff laptops to avoid bloat. -
Use anything like Salamander to sync AD?

Onedrive not signing in and keeps flashing in system tray
Frodo_Baggins replied to DaveA's topic in Cloud Services
Thanks, for me in the end it was a software deployment in PDQ set to a certain version going into a deployment loop when a newer version was installed! -
Senso for us in the end, might be worth looking if you have anything else doing decryption (worked fine for staff today.)

Basic Video Editor - need on par with Serif's version
Frodo_Baggins replied to timbo343's topic in Educational Software
We had a look and couldn't find a way, copying the directory to a new path breaks the installation - ended up changing to Adobe Premiere Rush (was a bit hesitant about CapCut in the first place due to owner and lack of information.) Edit: looks like they have an offering on the windows store if that is any better for you -
Morning, Anyone else having issues with Office365 this morning, internet seems fine but keep getting connection reset intermittently and generally being slow and unresponsive (most noticeable with OneNote and SharePoint sites) Nothing on the health center yet! Cheers

Onedrive not signing in and keeps flashing in system tray
Frodo_Baggins replied to DaveA's topic in Cloud Services
Hi Dave, did you find anymore regarding this? I seem to have something similar on a few machines (user is provisioned) OneDrive starts fine but when the end user tries to sign in it closes after accepting the email address, seems to do the same when preview builds are enabled and updated. -
ESS Reading Cloud at the minute but hoping to switch over to Libresoft next renewal - watched a demo and it looked good

Intune AutoPilot Stuck on 'Please Wait We Set up Your Device'
Frodo_Baggins replied to ConTheITGuy's topic in Cloud Services
Had something similar just recently and was down to filtering, does it work alright when going via hotspot? ISP looked at the time and identified a link being blocked by our Netsweeper, once unblocked it's been working fine (can dig out address if needed) -
I did the Google offered cert before and was fine (never got my free google t-shirt though ) very easy to wing it if you done even the basics before - was ProctorU though which is a downside. (Not sure if they still do but Google used to offer a free trial of G Suite which is good to test on and learn - If not speak to whoever manages your workspace account and ask for some separate OU's so you can test and learn.)

Basic Video Editor - need on par with Serif's version
Frodo_Baggins replied to timbo343's topic in Educational Software
If you already pay for creative cloud then premiere rush is quite good and basic, media teacher settled on rush after Openshot and premiere pro as they said it was too complicated for GCSE & A Level.... (they said perfect software was capcut but was a pain to deploy and a bit sketchy)
