Right subforum? 🤔 I've got some Yealink DECT phones, at school 1 they can make calls to and from the DECT phone but can't transfer calls to it - at school 2 they can do all of the same plus transfer. Been looking at it for a while but not getting anywhere anytime soon, ISP is no help and 2 different phone support providers seem stuck on this. Phone 1 transfers to DECT phone, phone 1 here's ringing tone but then after a few minutes gets the busy tone (the DECT phone never actually rings.) Info: DECT phone is Yealink w73h, the phones are Unify VOIP phones on an openscape business phone system hosted over the wan at our central office with trunks\stun by voiceflex (both school 1 and 2 come to the phone server via the Fortigate on the same policy.) Will hopefully be at site tomorrow to do captures and see what's going on, anyone seen this before?

https://www.youtube.com/@PowerBiforEducation hasn't uploaded for a while but is quite good, there's loads of channels on YouTube. There is also BI4Schools, Power BI for Schools | Facebook, Get Started with Power BI (Beginners) | Sheaf Digital, How to Power BI - YouTube Also worth checking with your MIS provider as they will most likely offer a course, the main battle is knowing what your SLT want to see and how and being realistic 😂

Unifi Guest Network Landing Page Not Redirecting
Frodo_Baggins replied to Jobos's topic in Wireless Networks
Funnily enough we've been having a similar issue though I assumed that was an expired SSL cert that I've been struggling to apply to the hotspot and not filtering. Following 😁 -
Anyone else having issues with Talkstraight internet this morning? First day of the academic year for us and the agent I spoke to said they are expecting it to spread 🙃 Edit: Looks to be back online now, status page updated to say that inline12 server was offline and has been brought back online

Cyber Essentials - Shared Cover Accounts
Frodo_Baggins replied to Frodo_Baggins's topic in How do you do....it?
Thank you for the insights, If a daily unique password\geoip and hardware restrictions are not sufficient when we get that hour of advice then I'll set a script to create\ delete accounts on a daily basis and then look at MIS requirements -
Cyber Essentials - Shared Cover Accounts
Frodo_Baggins replied to Frodo_Baggins's topic in How do you do....it?
We have a lot of adhoc supply and vey little in house supply. So cover manager calls agency and they send someone that morning (should have mentioned that) - what do you guys do with this? Do you still make individual accounts for them when cover manager tells you their name? -
How do you manage Cover accounts in 365 whilst being cyber essentials certified? The accounts are currently setup per site and then shared with cover teachers by the cover manager. The current plan to meet requirements is to run a scheduled task every night to reset the password and email it to the cover manager to then be distributed.

EasyBadge with an Evolis Primacy 2 printer, talks in the sense that yes it can print RFID\MiFare and yes they can register cards with visitor management\paxton as we do 🙂

DHCP\DNS on the ISP provided router, filtering upstream by ISP but debating this, cashless catering (Vericool) and printing (UniFlow) are hosted and any other apps sit on an Azure VM. Only server in the traditional sense is our VOIP system which as at the central MAT office but hopefully we can switch that to hosted in the near future (along with our Paxton10 server) Intune\Entra for management and all files are in OneDrive\SharePoint

UniFi everywhere, one school has an Aruba 5406r zl2 for the core and 2930f for edge but will be changing to UniFi there aswell 🙂 UniFi Access points (used to be Xirrus at one of the schools which wasn't great but could have just been that model\ partner company.)

Anyone seen issues with the start menu search going into an indefinite loop after KB5060842? We've had a few reports now on Dell 3520's though I assume it's not model specific. Uninstalling KB5060842 fixes the issue but it doesn't look like I can stop specific updates in WUFB

AI usage detection software
Frodo_Baggins replied to robslack's topic in AI in Education & Enterprise
Can't agree with this more, It's what our teachers and SLT\MLT do and the students quickly admit usage -

Schools Broadband Netsweeper Portal
Frodo_Baggins replied to sigma's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Given up on trying to use the Netsweeper portal as It or the Azure sync always seems to have an issue.. not to turn this into one of those threads but does seem like support has taken a dive in performance lately -
Request from teacher to allow access to a personal external FTP server they setup for A Level Web Development so they can learn about client-side and server -side scripting i.e PHP access to a MySQL database - ringing a few alarms without fully looking into it They used to use replit but I believe the firewalled version is now discontinued, previously used XAMMP at another school but not too comfortable having that installed on student machines either to be honest. What do you do for this?

Used 1Pass and Bitwarden, both worked well for us - currently 1Pass with groups of IT staff per school and vaults for each school, If there are concerns about cert ian passwords and access then have them stored in a vault the users don't have access to e.g. All router\firewall passwords are stored in the IT management vault and everything else goes in the school vault (you can always move the passwords when you are happy for them to access)

Hi fellow IT people of the interwebz, Had this reported at a few schools, but we use WD19S and WD20S Dell docking stations and experience a strange audio delay when a laptop is connected to the dock (delay of 3-5 seconds depending on the device.) The laptops are Latitude 3510-40 and also happening on our precision laptops, the screens are a mix of a few different models but mainly Ctouch, Newline, Viewsonic. Only when using the docks, firmware and drivers are up to date but think this is driver related - posting before I start looking through registry to find the relevant hive for our devices anyone came across this before?

IT adjacent issue but we currently use signinapp\Arbor and schools print the register when the firealarm goes off - concerns were raised about staff being in the building waiting for printers to print\jamming whilst the building is potentially on fire, they have a fire evac iPad in cases where they cannot get access but doesn't work very well especially in our larger schools. Every other school I've worked at have just printed registers from their MIS\Sign in system and it's not been an issue but one school is being vocal about it which is a separate matter but the issue does warrant consideration. What does everyone else do? School is trying to use it as a way to get more printers but am very interested to see what others do and how they tackled this? (will still have same the potential issue even if they have another printer)
