Am I understanding what you've done correctly ? "Assign a deployment profile to a group"... ? Not assign the group to the deployment profile ? I have a group named 'Autopilot Enrollment Group - Staff Devices' 1 Member = 'TESTAUTOPILOT' This group is added to my autopilot deployment profile. Device isn't showing after half an hour with 'Convert all targeted devices to Autopilot' = yes Mind you, this is a Win10 machine. Is minimum for this Win 11?

You still need to register the device in Devices | Enrollment. Can't assign a deployment profile to the device unless the hardware hash has been uploaded.

Hi all, I'm testing Autopilot with what will be upgraded to Win 11 devices. For our existing hybrid-joined equipment... can anyone share a better method of registering devices in Autopilot rather than the laborious hardware hash method. Or does anyone have a script/method that will query all the devices on a network and collect the info?... No SCCM here And... for new devices, what supplier are you using to pre-register devices ? Y thats what I thought... but it does log them in to all apps. When we configured device based activation we got an error saying they need to sign in.

Thanks. Have deployed with 'Shared computer' parameter in the .xml deploy file. This seems to work for us. Logs them in to apps automatically.

@Ditto ... Thoughts ? We're thinking MS as we have our staff on there and I think change would spark revolution. They're only using Google at present for posting homework. It's the old everyone using Outlook and living in their email problem. Indeed, I agree with most Google guys here that the management in MS is so overcomplicated, particularly setting up Intune... Google certainly wins on that front.

Hi all, Looking for a way for students to use installed M365 apps on shared computers without signing in to MS... so they can save to local storage. Does anyone know if this is possible with M365 apps ? We're doing this whilst in the process of moving them to OneDrive after changing licensing to A3 EES. Cheers in advance

OK guys whoa.... dont get me wrong. Any tool that is secure, benefits learning and accessibility and teaches kids skills is great... but we're using two and it isn't working. I'm only echoing the general feeling in my environment. and this comment... You all know how difficult it is to try to push new methods in schools... I'm trying to get a general gist of what pro's/cons each platform may bring based on your experiences outside of the opinions in my environment. As I said in the OP, your comments will help inform me so please lets stick to positives.... and I do appreciate your comments all thank you.

It's subjective. Eye candy is important to users when trying to get them to take up tech IMO.

An advantage in my opinion of M365 is that students will be using (teacher quote) 'real-world tools'. e.g. When they go out out to work or uni, it's unlikely they'll be encountering Google. I like Google and its pretty powerful and simpler to administer than M365, however its horrible to use and the interface is fugly and confusing, particularly for teachers.

Hi all, We're a Trust with mixed M365 and Google platforms.. however no chrome books or paid Google licenses... go figure ! I'm embarking on the process of proving that consolidating to one platform is best.... which in this case will be M365 due to equipment, licensing, percentage of users on each platform etc etc... but this isn't set in stone, however it has to be one or the other! In order to support this I'd like to get a picture of what direction KS3+ academic institutions have gone with regard to M365 vs Google. This will be a big help in me getting a national picture of trend to support my argument... whichever way it goes. To all Edugeekers... please, would you mind submitting to this poll a response of what cloud platform you're committed to and why. Big thanks to you all in advance

I've got a ton of these. They're pretty good in Ryzen 5 and i5 trim. Lids and hinges are a little flimsy and a couple of the drivers for ACPI and Lenovo hotkeys are pain to find that will suit the hardware. Seen a couple with loose screws after a few months. No touch screen but never at that price. Last batch I had was 40 units... not all had exactly the same hardware so drivers were a bit of a faff until we noticed. They are however a good machine for the price... Ryzen 5, 8Gb RAM 512GB SSD I'm getting for 290.00 ex vat currently. OK for staff, certainly not for students... they're not tough enough. Lenovo are doing cashback on old hardware presently. You'll probably get £50 back per unit if you register... your reseller will do this for you. Hi all, Got a problem here with users sharing folders and files from OneDrive online.... this is web and OneDrive app. The user shares a folder with X, sets desired permissions.... the share recipient gets an email notification and can open the file in 'Sharepoint view'... e.g. not the usual OneDrive interface. There is a period of about 45 mins before the shared file/folder appears in the share recipients 'Shared' folder in OneDrive online... if it appears at all ! Weird bit...... If the share recipient has another folder that has previously been shared by the same user, enters the folder, then clicks the users name in the breadcrumbs above the file list, the folder/file is there! Any ideas or has anyone else experienced the same? This is causing migraines !! Cheers in advance

Thanks @snagrat I basically did that last night with a test account and all appears well. License is assigning and at least their OneDrive and Outlook are there. We're currently migrating this school to online etc and will be managing the groups online rather than AD.... but it works.

So I've hit a snag with assigning these A3 licenses..... has anyone been through this ?... I've inherited a pretty chaotic 365 tenant. Currently we have freebie A1 licenses assigned by membership of an AD group synced to Entra. This is for all staff at this particular school... over 200. I need to group assign 85 of these people M365 A3 licenses, and the rest leave with A1. When assigning A3 I'm getting 'Conflicting Service Plans' errors when trying to assign the license in the admin centre, even if I turn off all of the plan2 and plan 3 services. I don't really want to break the AD group sync then re-assign licenses in M365 admin ... will this lose users data ? Anyone ??

Hi all, Daft question to save me some time.... I'm upgrading a load of staff users to A3 on a new EES Microsoft 365 for Faculty license. What happens if I remove their Office 365 A1 license ? Is this still needed at all? Cheers in advance

Hi all, Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve a problem.... Scenario: Active directory domains... Two separate schools, two separate Windows domains, two separate subnets. The two sites are joined with an IPsec VPN connection between firewalls (Smoothwall). DNS conditional forwarding is set up on both sites DC's pointing at each DC in the other domain. Site A and site B are able to resolve hostnames, browse files and ping by IP and by hostname from client machines. Problem: Users travel from one site to the other with their respective domain joined laptops and are unable to connect/login to the remote domain. DHCP addresses at the remote site are a different subnet to the domain they are trying to connect to. Any pointers on how to set this up so users can login at each remote site? Is this DNS or am I missing something in the firewall setup? I also assume its a configuration that needs setting up in AD domains and trusts Cheers in advance
