Hi all, Just enrolling some new devices with the Meraki Systems Manager app. Its forcing me to encrypt the device. I think Android 6 requires encryption according to some forums. Is there a way to turn this off? Not seen this before. Cheers in advance.

My bro' found this on a Linux forum yesterday. Seems to work. * Beware, I set a value incorrectly and my machine blue screens on boot. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Go to the start button, choose run, then type msconfig and press Ok. On the system configuration window, choose the "Boot.INI" tab. Check “No Gui Boot”, then lower the timeout to a more manageable time. I choose 3 seconds in stead of 30. (windows won’t accept a lower number than 3) Next choose advanced options. This is where you can choose how many processors you have. Most modern PC's are duo core (2 processors) with some quad core (4 processors, and there are even some with 8 Cores or more, ) then choose OK. ** The Windows default is only 1 core. ** ***** That isn't correct - surely. The default value displayed is 1 core but the system wouldn't use 1 core to boot. Hhhm. Will investigate. Now choose apply and OK, reboot and you should see a marked decrease in boot time. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Did this last night on a laptop with a 5400rpm disk and a Celeron dual core, 4GB RAM. Got the stopwatch out ---> 43secs to boot from power switch down (including BIOS post) Then set the CPU value to the value it offered me (2 cores) and started up again - Same ---> 43 secs. Then I set the RAM value aswell to the value it offered me, in my case 4096MB, started up again ---> 33 secs Seemed to work and the system tray stuff loaded very quickly after login. * Then to experiment I set the RAM value to 0 thinking it would use all the RAM available. It didnt. Blue screen straight away. Fixing today. Have a play if you're brave. Seems to work in a VM too. ******* I accept NO responsibility for borking your machine *********

Hey all, Got a problem with Veeam for O365. Veeam support are stumped. Wondering if any of you guys have come up against this one. Fresh install of Server 2016. Veeam B&R is on the same server - which runs no problem. Fresh install of VO365 Update 1. Fresh VO365 database. Backing up to a remote repo on a NAS. This originally was happening when I installed VO365 Update 1 but support have given me a copy of the original release and I get the same error. I uninstalled ver Update 1 and deleted the VeeamO365 folder in %programdata%. - Support said this would accomplish a full uninstall. Error on all mailboxes is.... 'Processing mailbox xxxx.xxx.com failed with error: JetError - 1085, JET_errTempPathInUse, Temp path already used by another database instance' It will backup no problem to a local repository and it will also backup fine to a Windows share on a remote machine. I had this running fine on a 2012 server. Anyone ever seen this ?? Cheers in advance

I know this isn't any help to you, and I'm not being sanctimonious, but have you tried explaining to your school that if they don't invest in their IT then they cant expect much out of it. Anyway, what I'd think of doing would be use the WD's - as they're new by the sound of it. Put them in a RAID10 array. At least then you can suffer two drive failures (if you're lucky). Or 2 in RAID 1 with 2 spares for more failure tolerance - if you can take the storage hit. In any case, I'd junk the old SAS drives.

So in the end support said it was a mangled database. I think they mean their config import is a bit naff. Had to recreate a new database = all my jobs, repositories and replications from scratch! First wobble I've seen from Veeam. Oh well. Was good to review and modify my backup strategy anyway.

@penfold. Y I did that and the jobs still fail using it. Really strange. They run fine using another proxy.

How do you force a re-install ??

It doesn't require the LAN if on a VM apart from to/from the device the repository sits on.

Adding a new proxy on another Windows VM seems to work. I wonder why can't it use itself as the proxy? Not ideal as this new proxy VM is part of a backup job. Is there any gain in using a dedicated machine for a proxy? Doubtful as I'm only backing up 8 VMs and it seems a waste of resource.

Everything moved in via the import and they all scan error free. The proxy is on the new host. And I have re-entered all credential passwords as per the documentation.

Hi all, Got a strange one here hopefully someone can shed some light on please Veeam B&R backing up from VMWare to NAS repositories. I'm moving my Veeam B&R (v9.5.0.823) to another server. I've originally had this installed on a VMWare vCenter server and recently read that isn't a good idea. I see why thinking about it, but it's worked for a couple of years with no bother. I've created a new Server 2016 VM, fresh full installation of Veeam B&R. Restored a fresh configuration backup from the old server using the 'migrate' option in the import. The import went fine. All my hosts, repositories and jobs are present. I've re-scanned all repositories and they pass fine. I've re-scanned the local backup proxy and it passes fine. However when I run any job I get the error: 'Unable to allocate processing resources. Error: All backup proxies are offline or outdated' Then the proxy becomes unavailable and requires re-scanning to bring it back, which it does successfully. To troubleshoot: I created a new repository A new backup job Same proxy But I still get the error. The only jobs that are working are physical machines backing up into a B&R repository from Veeam Endpoint Backup. Veeam support are stumped so far. So am I Has anyone come across this before ?? Hi all, Need opinions on the best method of updating the firmware's on my HP hypervisors. I have VMWare installed on the disks (not running from a USB or SD card - soon to change) Whats the best way to keep on top of firmware updates? Boot a live Linux/Windows instance and do it using HPs smart updater or iso, or straight from the VMWare Linux shell? How do you do yours ?? Cheers in advance EDIT: Just found this... anyone use it?
