  1. I imagine they would, try e-mailing the careers or employment departments of the local unis (most uni's have a department for helping student into work and all that stuff).
  2. It's actually really good for a free app, I've been using it for a few years now and I've seen it develop from strength to strength
  3. Na DT tech made one of thoes out of lolly pop sticks for the work experience boy a few years ago....
  4. Oh you guys - left handed screwdrivers do actually exist... http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=51 Glass hammers also exist, but their called glazing hammers, or break glass hammer for emergency exits.... I was sent to find a 6 inch pix axe on my work experience - being the son of a builder I knew no such thing existed, however an ice axe is the next best thing, which is what I returned with - the look on their faces, hehehe.
  5. Maybe if he's got an interest in electronics get an arduino and a temp sensor with a network shield and get him to program it to send e-mail to you when the temp hits say 30 degree... server room monitor. It's a little bit electronical but alot of coding.... for a nube.
  6. I did this 4-6 years ago going from RM cc3-cc4. I used DFS, and had the staff shared, student shared and the archives appear all on 'one' drive for users. It got alot of questions but soon people realised that it was quite a good idea. Everything in one place, but with super restrictive ntfs and individual share permissions. Top level was DFS, next level was folders I set, and only IT tech could change/add/modify, within that there were departmental folders with restricted permissions to staff/students and the archive was read only for staff. Devil is in the detail - just make sure you enforce a strict principle of least access. Shadow copies were also enabled but only for IT tech's.
  7. You can always ask on here - I'm sure there are others like myself who are flexible in our prior arrangements and have school experience. (I'm not available weekdays tho)
  8. I've done something like this for my dad using a HTA... white screen on top of the windows desktop, 4 big graphic buttons for the things he uses and Google search built in. Works really well for him. gui.zip - and here it is for you to see what's I'm talking about. Open it with microsoft HTML application host, edit the HTML with notepad.... yeah it really is just a HTML file.
  9. What client OS do you want to use?
  10. It sounds like it could be a mains hum induced by running poor VGA next to power? - have you tried a laptop directly attached to the projector with all other cables disconnected and the laptop running on battery? if it still is wobbling with that try removing any keystoning on the projector - if still i think it's a projector fault.
  11. This is my thinking too... Intel pentium dual t3400
  12. Just working on a laptop, notices a shed load of smart errors on the HD, so I've replaced it - fresh install of win 7 ect. I've installed Open hardware monitor and I've noticed the CPU is running at 86/87 degrees under normal load...(just installing windows updates). Am I crazy Or is this simply too high. Does anyone have any suggestions? (I've already used some air to remove some dust build up.)
  13. you could set one up as a proxy to the other? or maybe (a better idea would be) a reverse proxy in front of both of them (would certainly help the video servers capacity) Reverse proxy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Squid would be my recommendation. Squid (software) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  14. Morning all, Before I embark in making one, has anyone else attempted making one - and if so, how did it go? (I'm planning a 3ft by 2ft cnc router)
  15. If they are the ones discussed here http://www.infocus.com/sites/default/files/SupportDocs/InFocus_IN5120_Projector_Series/IN512X_RS232_Commands.pdf then there is a freeze command that you can send via serial/network, and possible via other remotes. At my uni they used AMX controllers (hard wired over serial) for freezing and other projector control. Very effective.
  16. Have you looked at moodle?
  17. what projectors are they?
  18. What do you use it for - I may have written an app in VB last night that does what you might be after? Here's a link to what I've made - only tested it on win 7 machine.
  19. Rutland telecoms are a company who were set up for a village to get broadband I think. Might be worth looking into them? Rutland Telecom: a Gigaclear company - Home
  20. hummm - i'm not sure it would be anything like the real thing tho?
  21. maybe give a brief outline of the systems your working on? first lesson I would say is document everything you have and how it's configured and works... that was should anything go wrong you have something to refer to.
  22. What about a windows multipoint type system?
  23. If you are referring to tinted glasses, this could be Irlens syndrome, Home, more than dyslexia. Many dyslexics have Irlens syndrome, but they are not the same thing.
