I get the same problem from the external CD drive.

Not my choice - If i had gone out and brought it there wouldn't be a problem as it would come with recovery program to make disks and tbh it would be usable out of the box. just this company have messed with it. Will give the external disk drive a go cheers

run into another problem - no drivers for the CD drive, yet the version on there currently say that it's using normal MS drivers. (yes, strange as i'm booting from CD). -and Toshiba has no drivers for the CD on the support site.

Cheers DaveP, but i really need to change the partitions which i guess is a bit beyond that software. Yes - but they've stripped all Toshiba content (including removing me tosh bundled software) and installed a customized win 7 which silly partitions and then installed their own kinda backup thing which wipes it and starts again (back to their settings ect) I also don't trust the company to have a VNC software running on my pc that i cant disable for some strange reason. As soon as i install linux grub i'm pretty sure most of there custom fiddling will break!

Hi there - does anyone know where i can obtain a legal copy of windows 7 home premium from? (a non fiddled with version) I have been given a laptop under the DSA scheme (as a student at a university) and no media to flatten it and start again (without all the silly bits from the supplying company). I have a legit windows 7 home prem OA license with the laptop. The reason i need to do this is they have set the C drive to 80GB and my system files which have to sit on C drive wont fit. Not to mention that i cant dual boot it as needed for my programming course ect. I'm fully aware that this will void my suppliers warranty on software and software support (which i told them i didn't need anyway).

not necessarily - if u can make the head node from an f-series and then get any other node to pxe book into a diskless mode and run purely in RAM, then you can use allot of computers overnight. - you could also look at a dual boot scenario (default to windows) then have a script which runs (at say 8pm) to boot all machines into the cluster OS and another to get them back to windows (at say 4am).

I did a certificate in business studies (c63) last year and found it interesting. Also - financial help from the OU is good so see what you can get.

I'm sorry - that is bias towards a particular way of working. I like 4:3 and 5:4 ratio screens, they suit my style of working.

or - drop the number of nodes until they can find homes - if it's on a vlan, then the nodes can sit anywhere really.

Heat can be an issue with clusters build in the DIY way - make sure that there is enough room capacity to dissipate the heat and enough airflow. Also make sure that one exhaust doesn't become the next's air supply as that's not good.

hey there - do research on beowulf clusters - i used to be a member of their mailing list and discussed lots of things on there relating to what you're trying to do. I think there is an premade linux distro for making a beowulf cluster (computers connected by lan). Will be interested to hear alot about this!

I've had no trouble using payslips printed off from an online system. I've used them for tax purposes, student finance purposes, grant purposes, credit card applications, the only thing i haven't done is apply for a mortgage using them. TBH they were a pain in my arse - i had to print all of them off anyway for my own records (tax man wanted monthy payslips kept) as i have/had multiple jobs and self employed. So the whole point of them was kinda in vein. and for me it was yet another set of login details i really didn't need to have. Your P60's/p45's has to be on paper i think.
