  1. Surely once they hit pc/mac you can lose the tapes to the bin? If you hang on to compatibility for too long it'll stop you from moving forward. I would say - get all the fotage onto pc/mac, lose the tapes and go for sd/hhd recording, personally i would go for sd, but in a school i dunno if thats such a good idea. I was recently at a pro video shoot for a band After The Ordeal (just been played on XFM rock show), and they were using 4GB compact flash drives, and swapping them every 4-8 mins as they got full. Was a panasonic camera.
  2. On one job description saying 7:30 start and another saying 8 or somthing. I work my hours as and when - try to get in for the times stated, but sometimes i do remote work and come in later the next day. It's a bit hard to do alot of server work while school is in full flow. I guess alot of us do this.
  3. We have the same problem here - on LGFL.
  4. Jokes, could have some real fun with that.
  5. Agreed, centralised management is alot easier. I'll have a look for the latest toolkit. EDIT: That is the latest toolkit with it's associated MSI's i think.
  6. link to the msi's SMART - Admin tools,SMART Notebook (Windows) Our gallery content was fine - i did one install manually to install the content then when creating the MST's i told it where to look. Packaging the gallery on a netwrok is a bad idea as it wastes space for something which few people will use often.
  7. For thoes on cc3/cc4 it's simple once the admin toolkit is there. Grab MSI's from smart, Create an MST using the admin tool from smart, Create a CC3.ini file with commands for the MSI and MST(code to follow), For CC3 just put that with the MSI and MST in a folder within RMpackages\applications\smartboard\v1.0.0.0 and refresh your packages list in RMMC, For CC4 do the same but leave the folder on your desktop or wherever and then import a package into RMMC->CC3->select the ini file, it'll create an XML file and upload it all into a filestore on a server. .ini code [General] Name=Smartboard (10.0.0.0) Version=10.0.0.0 [Package] Description=Smartboard (10.0.0.0) Version=10.0.0.0 OS=5.WS,6.WS WIPackage=smart.msi WITransform=smart.mst You'll need to make two packages - one for drivers and one for notebook. We had this working on both CC3 and CC4, and still running it well on CC4. On CC4 you may need to make the drivers a dependancy of the notebook software. If there is no toolkit for the version you want i would advise you leave it ith the latest version that does have the toolkit, as i spent many hours fiddiling to no avail without it.
  8. My desktop on me NC10. Can anyone guess the source of the image?
  9. cheers michael - there was something in there under a different name, didn't think of looking in there. we have a few tosh's about 5 or 6, had no real problems with them. the storage manager comes as an exe, so i guess i'l have to extract something from that - neway found the compatibility setting in the BIOS so using that. unfortunatly for the laptops owner it's a win 7 job, so no, came with the restore partition of 7, but she wants XP. cheers all.
  10. Thats where the term tradesmen came from. You trade your services.
  11. Hi, I'm trying to install XP pro on a Tosh satellite T110-107, and get to the point where it says no hard drives installed. I have looked on toshiba website (Laptop Driver Downloads:) but have no idea where to go now. I understand it's a 64 bit processor and i'm trying a 32 bit OS, but google reviled this not to be a problem, and that after XPing it i'll only be able to see 3GB or so of the 4GB ram, that isn't a problem. Any ideas greatly recieved.
  12. The server room in a box at BETT. Complete with Ric's hand.
  13. It seems reasonable to me, seeing as it was the exams/assement officer, pretty much all she did was print reports from it.
  14. I wonder if they'll be any mugs left for saturday?
  15. there were mugs but i wasn't cheaky enough to ask for one.
  16. Got myself a hat and a lanyard and a manual input device. Missed out on a mug tho. Dunno if any will be left for saturday?
  17. Should also mention that that was with the drum that came with the printer. Dunno if that is of any real significance.
  18. A drum on one of our OKI C5650's has gone today, it was the black (K) and had done 11816 pages. Is this a good number of pages for a £40 drum?
  19. Our LA ICT consultant made comments about opencheck's newer system, that doesn't fall over as much but it still beggs the question, why use it in production if it did fall over, obv no testing was done, and why put it on a sever which simply put doesn't have the bandwidth to cope when it's most needed. If that were a complany site going down some serrious questions would be asked as to why.
  20. good point - hadn't thought of that, question is, will the software work that way - the machine does not auth against our network.
  21. Could it be that they are over heating? as simple as that.
  22. My boss mentioned today that within the ESM server there is an option for using the IP address rather than the domain name. Have you tried this? It could be a DNS error if using the IP address fixes it.
  23. same - we're behind an LGFL firewall with all ports blocked coming into the school (other than other selected ones)
  24. My weekend was great, it started thursday with a day off work, nice. Snow's brill. Friday i went upto Bolton, leaving at 4AM, up at 3, to do a videoshoot with 'After The Ordeal' and sitcomsoldiers. Emence times. Great fun. came back in the snow. Literally were driving ack in the van and drove from clearness into full on snow blizzard - couldn't see the road markings. went back to bed at 2. Sat and Sun i boarded part of the loft with insulation and 18mm chip boards - had to move 5 junction boxes and run some new cables to relocate existing junction boxes. Fiberglass everywhere, all in me arms and hands - yes i did wher gloves and a long sleved jumper. Had a good weekend overall tho.
