We're looking at upgrading our for other reasons. One of the requirements for us is that it must be able to be viewed live in a web browser. Anyone know of any boxes that can do that? looking for 32 channels plus, but can be over a number of boxes.

I use gencontrol here, same as VNC. As am admin we all have access to everything, we have to to be able to do our jobs. As alreddy said it's a trust thing. It's still an offecnce under the computer missuse act for an admin to gain unauthroised access to files/data.

Urm forums and accessing pages is quicker for me than before, but that could be anytthing in the chain gettin quicker. I've noticed my little smilies and the icons above where you type your reply load like dialup with one then another then another ect, but quicker. -
One possible reason they could ask for this as proof is that it contains your citizenship details IE if your a UK or EEC pasport then you have the automatic right to work in this country. For others a passport may be stamped with a visa, showing you have the right to remain in the UK. But you dont have to give them this as proof. A birth cert. will do (if you have one accessible) as will a citizenship document or a visa or a work permit. A passport is the EASYist way for you and them to prove this. But i dont think they need a photocopy, just recorded proof that 2 people have seen it.
-
They shouldn't need a photo-copy, just the passport number if they need a passport. Proof of a passport can be achieved by two people signing a document containing the passport number (CRB's do this). I would say they do not need your passport at all (other than for CRB), and can use your NI number. You may want to check out Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998, data protection policy - ICO for infomation - it's good clear and consice, and from the top. Also check out Data Protection Act 1998 (c. 29) , particually principles 2,3 and 5.

I've just had to configure wins on my laptop for my home network/domain to access something inside a virtual box on the DC. Really strange seeing as i dont have a wins server where i've pointed it to and the virtual box is running ubuntu. But it worked.

I can see why - no where near enough lights on there. Very artistic and creative tho

same NAT isn't the best option, i only ever used bridged as it's more reliable. -
ubuntu in virtual box on server 2008
mjs_mjs replied to mjs_mjs's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
The client (ubuntu 8.10) withing a virtual box is configued with a static IP, and DNS server i have on the network. I don't use windows DHCP, nor a windows DNS for non windows devices. Yes i've tried both it's interernal ip 127.0.0.1, external 192.168.x.x and localhost, non of which work from within the virtual box. The external IP doesn't work from any machines on the network. but i can VNC into it using the network address. -
ubuntu in virtual box on server 2008

Even when i start apache2 manually it says ''ok'' but i cant access it. The conf file worked on the the xp machine (withint the same VM), and i havent changed it. I'm gunna try reinstalling ubuntu and LAMP from scratch to see if that helps. I just though it could be something to do with it being on a DC, as i had problems installing things on them before. But even then i should be able to see it using http://localhost correct? So the problem must be with apache? -
This is EduGEEK - dont hide the GEEKiness.

i running ubuntu 8.10 within a sun's virtual box on a server 2008 server being a DC, DNS. i can vnc into the server and ping it but apache is having issues. Anyone else seen this? nither the address or localhost will connect to the webserver? i moved the image onto the server after making it on my laptop (xp). no problems until it hit the server.

I think ours is a post 2004 model. Can i connect the Xraid to a windows box?
-
not sure if it counts as a SAN but we have an XSAN/XRAID - well an xserve and an xraid. has 2 fiber channel and 2 network for iscsi?
-
You are both correct, we have the lisence required. If not we can still run it for a trial of 60days. So if i omit line 3 it should still work. Kwl - thanks guys, i'll give it a go. Now to find a floppy drive
-
other terms include 'bonding' and 'link aggregation' I can throttle a 100Mb link on windows server 2003 by moving files to a RAID 1 array but a Gb??? what are you doing to be hitting 100% on that nic?

Ahh so comes down to the old $$$ as usual within our worlds. -
so line 3 of the config file saying ''give a different name to each pc'' we should ignore? yes, but we dont pay them untill the end of the year, when our volume lisence renewal come round. (i've been told)
-
i looked at thinstation, but in the config file appears as if it has to different for each thin client. is this correct?
-
So i want to try having thin clients on the network, i have a server i can use for terminal server and volume lisncing so thats ok, but what do i need at the client end to make it work? I have some old celerons with 512MBram as hardware but what OS?
