just found out why mum and dads sage payroll wont backup and do the end of year correctly... Permissions.
i had set the C drive up so tightly that they couldn't add to the programs folder on the c:\program files, with the data being saved to the server i didn't think this would be an issue. oops.
My weekend was great, it started thursday with a day off work, nice. Snow's brill.
Friday i went upto Bolton, leaving at 4AM, up at 3, to do a videoshoot with 'After The Ordeal' and sitcomsoldiers. Emence times. Great fun. came back in the snow. Literally were driving ack in the van and drove from clearness into full on snow blizzard - couldn't see the road markings. went back to bed at 2.
Sat and Sun i boarded part of the loft with insulation and 18mm chip boards - had to move 5 junction
monday morning - apart from it being a misrable day, whats gone wrong so far?
1. a roof caved in over the weekend,
2. the drains are blocked so the playgrounds flooded,
3. the postgress service (we're RM) wont start, so nothing is working quite as it should.
4. the knock on effect of 3 means i wont be able to do the remote work i need to tonight incase it happens again.
nice....
Rite so i've got a sever 2008 DC, but it's causing issues cos it's different.
I cant install my RAID tools cos the software is designed for xp/2003 and not 2008/vista... which is gay. So i have to reboot to find the condition of the RAID set.
It wont pick up my tape drive. And i cant get to NTbackup. does it even exist... who noes.
Dont get me wrong i like it but it's just not for me.
I thinks i'll be moving back to 2003 and running 2008 in a virtual box.
