Especially as in 2008 you can see what the print spooler or any app is using resource wise. Task manager > Resource monitor (i think) and you can see the RAM CPU and NETWORK usage of the application. So it's easy to find out how much the app is using and increase if necessary.

if it was just images i would have said winsows pic preview thingy (with XP). set it to slide show and walk off - i think it does update as you add also.
-
if you have the option of starting with 2GB and dual cores then if you need it you can kill the server add more and restart.

Yes they need to be dynamic(in 2003) to be able to extend while active(in use), or shrink in 2008(r2). i run dynamic disks on raid 0, 1 and 5, all hardware - no issues seen.

there is sometimes the possibility of taking the sides off too - which then allows you access to the inside of the lock - you can then unlock it or remove the lock without any damage to cab (other than it now needing a new lock)

ICT Training for Under 25 ICT Technicians with no degree
mjs_mjs replied to ctbjs's topic in Courses and Training
Nope - I've phoned, e-mailed and used their contact thing. no replies at all, and only got a voice mail box when I called - no replies from that either. -
about 400 rebuilds planned, moving CCTV, adding to CCTV, Switches need changing, new alan test software installed accross the site, cabling for CCTv and a photocopier, changing a bulb in the hall projector up a wobly ladder/a talloscope sims updates, adding computers in, oh and the second trial of CC4 SR2. so not much for 4 days.

No idea - it's just what it came with, i just replaced the plug as it had been smashed in transit.

The law states a 'competent person' can do some things, changing of plugs included. It doesn't void any of my insurance and I make up my own cables from scratch and do some wiring, where i am aloud to do so, in buildings.

My dad's 240 - 110 transformers, they all have 2.5mm^2. I would also use 2.5 if I were running a long distance (50M) to a bunch of audio amps. Mainly cos the voltage drop/sag isn't good for them. The 1.5mm^2 i use is rated to 16A.
-
looks interesting but what is the current rating on the plug... i doubt it could take a full 13A continuous and how would i fit it to my custom made cables - it doesn't look like there is room for 3 terminals of 2.5mm^2... but i like the idea of the plug folded, very neet and sensible.

what about watermelon cos it's big like the RAM exchange uses?

New install of sims onto windows 7 ARRRHHHHHHHH
mjs_mjs replied to training_needed's topic in MIS Systems
we're running sims and FMS on win 7 wihtout any known issues other than FMS needing a default printer. -
Only the same actions as server hard drives... securely destroyed - a hammer and flame thrower should do the trick. It's what I've done

i'll give it a go - how long is the audio?

Anyone on here have any experience of managing a ubuntu network and if so how were things centralised and managed?
-
I've been wanting to do one for a long time now. I think there are other projects out there doing the same tho.

Sounds like a plan to me. I certainly would have a database server, storage (SAN) and then all the hosts virtual. A bit datacente esk.

I'm going the new MCTS and MCITP route now in win 7 and server 2008 - if your a self learning like most techs (imo) then just get the Ms training kit and the administrators pocket companion will cost about £50 per pair of books. The exams cost £88... but with the MS training kit you get a small discount. so £140 per exam and about 100hrs of time per exam IF your working on the tech during the day.

just found out why mum and dads sage payroll wont backup and do the end of year correctly... Permissions. i had set the C drive up so tightly that they couldn't add to the programs folder on the c:\program files, with the data being saved to the server i didn't think this would be an issue. oops.
