What's a '£10 note'?

xkcd: Google+ Sorry for trotting this out again, but it's my standard response (public and private) to any new 'Social Networking' site that gets launched. As someone on here said a while ago, '......A future where computer =iPad and Internet = Facebook' . Apologies to who posted that originally, I can't be a***d to search through to find out, but you know who you are, and I thank you for a very quotable.....quote which I use whenever the subject comes up in my 'social network'.

Certificate of Secondary Education......poor man's 'O' level as I remember Owzat! Omigod, I used to play that with my Grandad when I was a kid, about 9 or 10.

What? No 8-second respawn invunerability?

When I started here, the network was in a parlous state, Windows 2000 Server.....old, broken-down HP server...... domain all to hell etc, with a non-Windows FM network for curriculum. Head of ICT, our LM, came in one day and the conversation went thus: Right, have said we can have two of the application servers for Domain Controllers so we can build a new domain. Great, nice one, let's have a quick chat about it and I'll crack on. Chat? What's there to chat about? Well.........what do you want to call this new domain, for a start? Oh......I never thought of that. Three different HoICT's later, and still no improvement, other than the change of management structure so we're not LM'd by the HoICT anymore. 100 weeks.

As it goes, there wasn't a spot of rust on it, but we took it down to Cornwall for a holiday one year, spent £200 in petrol and I put it on the market as soon as we came back.

Having got that out of my system, I drive a 'N' reg Mondeo 1.8 with some letters after it, don't know what they mean, don't care. It suits me perfectly.......It and I are both old, bodywork's beginning to loose its lustre, but there's nothing wrong with the power-train. I feel really old reading this thread, I've realised I don't give a t055 about cars anymore, as long as my Mondeo gets me from A to B and runs until I retire, that's fine. Contrast this to 21 years ago, when I lusted after, and bought, a V12 5.3l XJ6, aircon, cruise-control, walnut and leather everywhere........I feel a 'Don't make them like that anymore' coming on.......so I'll go out for a sm*k* before I say it.

What do I drive? A Hard Bargain.

I don't use my phone for talking on Twitter, Facebook, E-mail, SMS, BBM......but I wouldn't talk on it....that's too unhygienic. Really, it's because I don't have any friends, either.

Godwin's Law having been invoked, I'm now duty-bound to say, 'That's a bit Fascist, innit?'. And then, to get my coat.

I held a LAN party back in the day.......three Norwegian guys came over, two of them were ex-elk slaughterers, hunters, whatever, and they brought (clandestinely or otherwise, not sure of that) some elk steaks they'd frozen the week before. After they'd been defrosted, marinated for 24 hours, and put on the BBQ, they were the nearest thing to Heaven that I've ever tasted. With the possible exception of chocolate ice-cream. Apropos of nothing at all, really, the third was a Headteacher. Hey, Jay-Hawk, if you're on this forum, you know who this is

How is it taking something out of context....you produced statistics to try to prove your point, I pointed out what previous Govts have said about statistics. And, please, don't be condescending. Is that how you treat your students when they disagree with you?
