  1. We use iiyama digital signage screens here. You can install the .apk file from the website and we find it works quite well as you can change the settings on the TV side so it boots automatically into the Trilby TV.
  2. Hi ITGuyNW, Yes, we have one at our school. Not sure how often it gets used but I know we had a bit of trouble getting it through our Smoothwall setup. I think it was as you can't install a certificate on it - we just put it on one of our Do Not Inspect policies in the end. Ours had a 4G connection as well so we took it on a tour of the site! I think teachers who do use it put it near the front of the class so they can hear/see the teacher well. Couldn't fault their support either.
  3. Thank you all for your suggestions - it is greatly appreciated! Looks like I have some further reading to look into now!
  4. Nothing fancy for the software - it's just Word with a custom paper size for printing. And I will suggest to HR to see if they can change their design - it is long blocks of solid colour. I'll see if Illustrator works better as well!
  5. Thank you for your reply @localzuk! The printer was purchased a couple of years ago by a previous technician who has since left. We did have it working for a while and I've tried a new ribbon and a few cleans but our HR department still don't like the quality.
  6. Hi Everyone! I was just wondering how other schools print ID cards? Previously, we have been printing a label and attaching it to a swipe card but our HR department would now like to print directly onto the card. We have been using an Evolis Primacy printer but we have found the quality and general use a bit hit and miss - we can print several cards at once and the quality will vary. Ideally, we could create something in Word or a similar program and print duplex. With thanks ICT-Joe
  7. Same issue here - we have logged the student in but we can not get any further. Our Exams Officer has started the test so the student should see if their end. However, we are just stuck on the first page after the login with "loading..." across the screen.
  8. Hello, We were in a similar situation - our recycling company was taken over and now charge for collections. We've started using the following company and even though they're based up country, they do free nationwide collections. We've found them to be very helpful. However, they do require a minimum of 20 qualifying items (desktops, laptops and other items) for a free collection. Green IT Disposal | Providing a free nationwide collection and recycling service for redundant IT equipment
  9. We recently moved our Papercut server from an old 2008 VM to Server 2022 and used the following link to help with migrating the printer queues and drivers: How to Migrate Print Server from One Server to new Print Server (cloudinfrastructureservices.co.uk) I know it's a different situation but in the end, we renamed our new server to the old name (after renaming the old server) so it wouldn't break GPOs.
  10. I have the following saved on my Udemy page - not got to it yet but the presenter is quite entertaining! IT Management Fundamentals - From IT Tech to IT Manager | Udemy
  11. We've been asked to setup a projector in one of our halls for the England vs Iran match, but I think this is just over a lunch time. Normally, we get an all-staff email saying teachers shouldn't have the football on, mainly as it stops learning time.
  12. IT Disaster Recovery 2021 Template.docx Hi Tech13 I downloaded the attached DR template from this site a few months ago.
  13. We are an RM school so just use the Management Console but I would imagine it's a command line tool. I'll have a look and let you know if I find it!
  14. +1 for Lee from me! Lee visited our site a few months back to help us with our Wi-Fi deployment and helped us resolve a couple of issues we had with our Meraki system at the same time!
  15. We have three PC shutdown schedules here: one at 16:00, one at 18:00 and the last at 21:00. The first two times turn off unless someone is logged in and at 21:00, the PCs shut down regardless. Staff at quite good here in that most know we won't shut down switches and servers. Regarding wear and tear on devices, I can't say we've ever seen any issues with PCs after a shutdown.
  16. We're using Trilby TV at our school. I think it's quite good - we have a few digital signage screens we had to install the .apk on but we also have a couple of Fire sticks with the app on with our older screens. It's centrally managed and is an annual subscription. I also find it really easy to use and support has been great.
  17. Yes, I've started seeing this today! We had a user with YouTube links in a PowerPoint saved on the network rather than the cloud and it takes them to the "Your browser is up to date" page. When you click "Browse YouTube", it just takes you to the home page rather than the video in the link.
  18. It's working here for us - just managed to upload a couple of documents to test!
  19. I’ve emailed the admissions team yesterday and they have now replied that the following need to be added to your firewall whitelisting: https://admissionstesting.surpass.com/ https://cms.surpass.com/ https://cmspublic.surpass.com/
  20. Thanks! That's what our Exams Office said too. We were having issues with the software connecting to the other end, so we've downloaded the tests so we shouldn't have to worry about the connection dropping in and out; only uploading it after the assessment.
  21. Are you all leaving your Internet connected throughout the tests? Only I was re-reading the "Computer-based: on the test day instructions" from Cambridge Admissions and they say that if tests are using SecureClient, the PCs should be disconnected from the Internet. I have raised it with them, asking how could an invigilator control/monitor the tests with not Internet but that's their advice?
  22. Hi All Don't know if anyone has seen the following link, but it was quite useful if you want to download the assessments early (there's a setting to change the "Advance content download timespan")! https://learn.surpass.com/
  23. We're having a similar issue here - we've been trying to return some trial cameras we had from Meraki since January and have just been told to hold the parcel until they can guarantee the shipment. They did also say it's a problem with UPS exporting packages to the EU on their behalf though.
  24. We had a similar issue here. We found out that for some reason, the device was muted, even though it worked in everything else but Teams. To fix this, we had to go into Troubleshooting and then Recording Audio, which unmuted the device.
