Hello all, Just a quick post to promote wireless survey availability in the summer. If you are planning a new wireless installation, want to check your existing or just plan for an expansion we can help. We have a team of trained Wi-Fi engineers that conduct all types of Wi-Fi surveys depending on the requirement. We use the market-leading software solution to design and report on Wi-Fi surveys. All on-site surveys are charged at a day rate of £795. Discounts are available should you purchase hardware off the back of the survey. There are various approaches to on-site surveys which we can discuss with you, some quicker than others to keep costs down should that be a requirement. We also run free-of-charge Predictive Designs, these are performed offsite using scaled plans. You are provided with a detailed report for all surveys, including Predictive Designs. Onsite work will also include a separate written report containing advisories/concerns etc from the engineer that visited. Please note for new installations/expansions these would need to be using Ruckus, for health-check/post-installation reports this can be any vendor. The reason for some being only Ruckus is to perform the survey you first need the proposed hardware, but also insights into the running of the solution. If anyone has any questions, please let me know. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you enjoy your day.

Hello, At Net-Ctrl we continue to look at how we may be able to assist organisations in the EDU space throughout the current environment. From conversations we have had with clients we have been impressed with how many are using this time as an opportunity to up-skill on their knowledge, investigate on-going issues or use their time to plan further ahead into the future – and we’re trying to support and enable these users. If you find yourself in this position, please consider the following: Free training – do you have a Ruckus related WiFi issue that has been bugging you, or do you have a new team member that you would like to have some more formal overview training with on any of the Ruckus platforms – if so – we can run webinars or calls to go through these issues. Free content and webinars – are you interested in learning more about the Ruckus SmartZone management console, their ICX switch portfolio or the co-management capabilities? Or perhaps you find yourself with some older equipment and would like a dashboard tour of your possible future upgrades, and to gain some insights into the improvements available. Again, we can provide webinars and information to assist. Please note, these will be run by engineers and not Account Managers – these would be designed to inform and not try to sell. Free predictive wireless surveys – we are still completing free of charge predictive wireless surveys. Perhaps you have a problematic section of your site, or are in the early stages of planning for a potential upgrade – our engineers can review your site using our wireless predictive survey software for you and provide you with a comprehensive report with their findings. If there is anything else that we may be able to help you with, please let me know and we will certainly try to offer support and/or guidance. In addition, please continue to use our support services should you need to call on them. We are engaged with all our manufacturers to ensure support matters are dealt with and equipment reaches those that need it. Please know that we’re to assist and support you during these times.

With any wireless modifications, be it expanding an existing deployment, upgrading an ageing one or planning for a completely new network one of the first steps should be a Predictive Wireless Design. A Predictive Design also called a Planning Design or Predictive Survey uses specialist software to create a virtual representation of your site and predicted RF environment. Access Points are placed around the site based on best practice WiFi design to model a predicted deployment. The software interprets this model and produces a report showing the predicted signal strength and coverage amongst other metrics. You can also perform density planning using the predicted data. With a predicted AP count it is possible to build out proposals and costs for further discussion and review. The survey can be updated and remodelled following the review until a design has been confirmed. All documentation and reports are provided to the client for future review. Net-Ctrl offers these Predictive Designs free of charge. Any design does require manufacturer knowledge by the person completing it. Net-Ctrl primarily works with Ruckus but can also complete surveys based on Aruba (excl. Instant-On) and Cambium. To complete a Predictive Design, we will need: A copy of scales site plans Description of your built environment User profile – class sizes, device type and applications Following a Predictive Design, we would recommend an Active Survey/On-site Survey be completed by a trained professional. This enables the engineer to put the predictions to the test and ensure the AP layout will perform as expected. Please note this is a chargeable service on a day rate basis. For any questions, please feel free to comment on this thread or send them to me directly. Should you want Net-Ctrl to complete a free-of-charge Predictive Design please send me a PM or email [email protected] and we can begin the process. There is no buy-in to Net-Ctrl following this service. There are no expectations of further purchase and unless requested you will not be added to any mailing lists.

Welcome back to the new school year! We hope the summer treated you well and all of your projects were completed. For a limited time, we are running a discounted rate of £295 (per day), plus expenses, on all on-site surveys booked between now and the end of the year. If you’re experiencing any problems with your wireless solution, concerned with potential blackspots or would like to start preparing for a future wireless upgrade, then please get in touch and take advantage of this offer. If you are considering a potential upgrade the survey requires one of our wireless engineers visiting your site and running a multitude of wireless tests. They will measure for packet loss, maximum throughputs, and signal coverage and signal strength to accurately predict your wireless performance and kit list. This is charged out at a daily rate. Once all the data has been collected, the engineer will draw up your detailed wireless report and live heat maps. We have a lot of client’s approach us with an existing wireless solution that they have invested heavily in, but that isn’t delivering on its promises. You may be experiencing interference, dead spots or connectivity issues to name but a few. We can use our wireless know-how, trained engineers and specialist software to analyse your site and perform and Troubleshooting and Health Check exercise to find the source of and solution for your problems. Please let me know of any questions. If you would like to look at booking a survey please send me a PM.

Hi. An organisation has sent us 2 surveys, one for staff, one for students about sport. They ask for the school name, DOB and job role (for staff) and tutor group (for students). Critically, they also ask for ethnicity (a special category of data). In my view it is not anonymous as there is enough information to identify someone, but the organisation insists it is not as no name is asked for and they are therefore compliant. Views would be appreciated. Many thanks, Meldrew.
