Site change - new prefix style
We have introduced a tweaked prefix style when you attempt to post a new topic in a forum with prefix's. The new style (shown below) should make it clear and easy to set an appropriate prefix for your topic. New Casio LED/Laser Projector Ranges
At the end of March, Casio announced 3 new ranges of the Hybrid LED / Laser projectors which many on Edugeek have been buying and / or using since they launched at BETT 2010. Of the 3 ranges, one was the short throw that was launched at BETT 2011 to much interest from members, especially as it was a significant increase in size over its siblings from the A range which people have been fitting since around March 2010, but it fulfilled the missing gap in the market from them. RM Profits down as UK education budget redistribution takes effect

Spotify Malware Alert
Spotify has taken down it's third-party advertising network following reports that malware was being downloaded by rogue adverts since Thursday. According to Netcraft, users of the ad-supported free client were vulnerable to the attack which included Java-based drive-by downloads of malicious software on to user's computers. Those who have used the free version of Spotify in the past few days should run virus scans. Schools who allow access to Spotify may want to check their computer labs

Data Protection Blunder For York University
York University has attracted the unwanted gaze of the Information Commissioner after accidentally publishing private information about students on the institution's website. An A-Level exams enquiry tool allowed access to more then just a student's results, with E-Mail addresses, telephone numbers and even personal details about emergency contacts being exposed through the site. It is estimated that 148 student records were accessed through the enquiry tool but no figures have been revealed

RM Ceases Windows Vista Support
RM has announced that they are ceasing support of Windows Vista for future updates to CC3 and CC4. Any incidents specific to CC3 and CC4 will still be supported, but Vista specific issues may not be resolved. Testing of future CC3 and CC4 updates on Vista workstations will also be stopped. BSF Court Decision Announced
A verdict on the court challenge by six councils regarding the scrapping of the Building Schools for Future program has been announced. Nottingham, Luton, Waltham Forest, Kent, Newham and Sandwell councils challenged the department of education claiming the scrapping of the scheme was unfair and unlawful. If you happen to browse onto edugeek from your mobile phone you should now get our new mobile skin beta which should provide a lighter interface for visiting the forums. The skin should automatically apply when your using a mobile as well but if it doesnt drop me a message with your mobile device details and I will try and find out why. Fire Extinguisher Student Jailed
A student from Brockenhurst Sixth Form College was jailed for two years and 8 months today for throwing a fire extinguisher from the roof of the Millbank building. Edward Woolard, 18 from New Forest, took part in demonstrations by student protesters at 30 Millbank in late 2010 against University fee rises. He is reported to have thrown a metal fire extinguisher from the roof of the building, narrowly missing Police officers guarding the Tory HQ below. Mr Woolard's defence claimed the acti
