Lanksford Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Hello everybody, I met someone a while back and he said he was around when edugeek first started and told me to sign up. I'm a senior technician at a school in South East London. I'll try and be around to help anyone if i can to make good use of the site! Thanks to all, take care and have a good day!
ChrisJ Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 This is more of a reintroduction than an introduction. I used to post here occasionally when I worked for the LEA support team (Link2ICT), but when I left the company I was more of a lurker as my job wasn't in education any more. However, I've recently been offered the role of ICT Manager in a school in Birmingham and will be starting that in January, so I thought I'd start posting here again. It should be quite interesting being on this side of things having experienced it from the support side. And hopefully those who remember me from my Link days won't be too harsh on me.

Miscbrah Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Hi everyone! New recruit at a new school, but been in educational ICT support for a while now. Windows guy just getting to grips with Linux... Occasionally grips around the neck and around the tissue box whilst sobbing, but that's learning for ya! Looking forward to mastering both worlds. Hello and (shortly) Merry Christmas!

Davit2005 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Hi all fellow EduGeekers, I'm Dave, Came from a Mechanical background but after 15+ years changed over after getting hands dirty supporting NT3.5, NT4, Win 95, Citrix WinFrame etc. Did a few courses, completed an MCP in Server 2003, CCNA a few years back and then jumped in holding breath. First job in IT spent in field, working way up, but now just mainly sorting the issues I cause :-P

lalben Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Hi everyone. Browsed this forum for a few weeks as a guest and finally decided to sign up. I'm Ben, 20 years old and work in Cumbria at the moment as a Junior ICT Support technician for a small company. Looking to move over to the north east between now and next July if possible so hoping to find a job soon. I already have living arrangements sorted over there so thats a plus side. Hopefully this forum might help me find a new job over there. Completed my National Diploma for ICT Practitioners not too long ago and now looking to start doing some real IT Qualifications, looking at starting with the CompTIA A+ first. Nice to meet you all. Ben

Bjoern Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Hey Edugeeks, i`m a long time lazy reader of this forum, but today i finally created an account. I`m a system- and networkadministrator for a school district in germany. With four people we administrate some business colleges and some special-needs schools. In numbers these schools have about 6000 workstations, many many dsl/cable lines, routers, servers and so on. My expertise is virtualisation (vSphere mostly), routing (bsd walls - isa - tmg) and exchange and other emails services. But i`ll do troubleshooting and 1st level on some days, too. I started a blog/notepad (in german language) about my daily life as a school administrator in december 2011 under edugeek.de . Maybe i`ll find some german colleagues here that are willing to blog with me or share thoughts with me....
