Hello everyone - this is my first post on Edugeek.

My name is Paul Hughes and I am the Managing Director of ParentMail +Pay. I've been a silent observer of this forum for some time and have seen the great work that it does. I've also noticed a few threads where our company name has been quoted sometimes properly and sometimes not.

I'm not here to promote our business (not to intervene/comment on threads) but am very happy to answer any questions from forum members that use our services and to receive feedback (good and bad).

We live in interesting times as we all know and I'm happy to help if I can and to share information that might be of interest to members.

Many thanks,

Paul

Welcome to all who have arrived since I last popped my head around the door. Special welcome to PaulHughes - it is always useful to get the view from someone who knows about a system or service that a large number of edugeeks use. You are welcome to comment on posts and give information and help! :)

Hi all, I'm Gaz and I work for a private teaching company as their IT guy. One of the worlds largest aerospace/defence contractors being our main client.

I've been working on computers since I left school, but only in the last 5 years got into the education industry and really started playing with networks.

I found edugeek after researching content filters I came across Smoothwall and I'm now a customer of theirs thanks to the support on this forum. :)

I'm sure this forum will be a great resource for help with working in the education industry.

Welcome Paul nice to see you on here, I am sure if someone is mis-quoting your product there wouldn't be an issue in you correcting a factual inaccuracy I am sure we all want the right facts to allow members to make choices for themselves, pushing sales obviously unless you sponsor is not good (as per the user agreement on here) but if someone is saying your product doesn't do X when it does that's another matter I think we would all agree :)

I am a happy ParentPay user, its been a great tool this last 9 months we have had it, especially in winter with the Snow and closures, as well as for keeping parents informed of key information going out via Pupil Post such as exam packs and reports.

To everyone else, welcome aboard :) Enjoy the Edu-hobnobs, we have chocolate ones in at the moment if your quick before @GrumbleDook gets to them ;) (he's busy ironing on the M1 at present so if your quick you can grab one before he gets back hehe)

Hi All

Well talk about late I have been kinda snooping and never really started to post till now, I signed up near the end of last year. Im a IT tech working in a Primary school in essex. When I first started this job and did some routine searches on google with resolutions edugeek seemed to crop up quite a bit and it intrigued me and then i joined! All I can say is what a really great community and i am happy to be a member of it.

Been a geek all my life (Only way to be in my opinion lol) into your typical geekiness, sci-fi, xbox, comics, movie trading cards the list goes on :| Getting into my photography and I love dabbling in Photoshop and what not.

Didn't realise this thread was here (Cue sheepish emote) so I thought best get it posted and say hi lol i know its late.

Hello everyone

I've registered to use this site at last.

I've taught in maintained and indpendent sectors, been a network manager in a couple of schools, now I'm helping to run a business and I've written a few articles for magazines aimed at the independent school sector. In my spare time, when I'm not herding either a cat or a teenager, I knit, crochet and garden. At the last BETT, I had a brief chat to Vikpaw but didn't meet the rest of the team. :)
