Is the i3 a must? For student laptops we've just got a batch of these Stone Laptops. Running a core2duo isn't the quickest I know, but for general use they're decent machines, with TPM as standard and Stone's 3,4 or 5 year warranty.

I haven't yet tried with CS6, but I've used a similar method with CS5.5 by installing onto a master image and then deploying via WDS. As far as I can tell, once the computers are imaged, you'll need to run any one of the programs within the Master Suite on an admin account which will allow the software to register, and then it should remain registered for all users and not ask each time a new new user logs on.

You can try changing the file's read/write permissions using cmd. In Vista and 7 you can run cmd as the built in 'system' account and that has full access to change permissions on everything

The new Focus' are actually incredibly cheap on tax, the 1.6 diesel only £20 PA. Insurance is also reasonable at group 11. The older models (mk1) is also group 11-13 on insurance and £125 on tax

+1 for Hiren's Boot CD. Its got tools for the majority of drives plus a couple of universal disk checking tools. As far as I'm aware, on the latest versions all the tools on it are clean, not like it used to be.

My 52 plate 1.6 Focus has got a coilpack, so I'd be amazed if a 53 plate didn't! Also, I had a similar problem in my old Fiesta, cause of problem: coilpack.

Wireless projectors do exist, and for tablets they'd be great for mobile connectivity. The problem though, as you'd expect, is full frame rate video not being processed fast enough. With 802.11N small resolution video could probably cope quite well, but without having one to actually test with, its hard to say. Quick Google search: Wireless projectors

They don't seem to be cheap at all! The cheapest they do for 165/65R13 is about £45 per tyre! My local dealer does £32 per tyre (new economy brand) and a two pounds fitting per tyre.

Quick update. I've been on the phone with Dell and, apparently, the Precision T1500 is designed not to work without a dedicated graphics card installed! Surely that can't be right? Why would anyone design a computer that although has onboard graphics, cant actually use it!?

Ive done a quick test this morning, removing various components to try and determine if its a hardware issue, and have noticed that although the RAM is good, when I remove the graphics card, the system does not boot (even though its got onboard graphics), I just get 6 short beeps . I reckon the graphics/memory controller is nackerd? EDIT: Dell diagnostics has finished, no errors found.

When I get into work in the morning I'll run a full dell diagnosis for a few hours and report back.

I've already put the latest BIOS on it, and I've run memtest for an hour with no problems reported

My Dell workstation seems to be haivng a bit of trouble lately with video playback. Its a Precision T1500 (specs: here) with an i7 860, 4GB DDR3 Ram, Nvidia Quadro FX580. When attempting to play video, be it embedded flash, DVD, mkv file, whatever; it always blue screens when I either have two or more videos being processed, or occasionally just one open with other general apps (office, chrome, etc). Having used WhoCrashed the dump files show 'Video Scheduler Internal Error' often with watchdog.sys or mctkmd64.sys being listed as the culprit. I've tried updating the Gfx drivers (even tried a different card with no luck) thinking they could be the cause but to no avail Anyone got any ideas? Btw: Re-install Windows would be my last option... Cheers!
