Rab Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Hello, I'm Rab from central Scotland, working in various clusters of primary schools and secondary schools in the area.
BatchFile Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 I'm Tony, "ICT Strategy and Resources Manager" in a small secondary school (NOR 380) in the southern Lake District. I started here as "ICT Technician" in 2000, worked here for 4 years (during which time I also qualified as a teacher) then left to join the Cumbria Capita SIMS support team where I was for a couple of years until the helpdesk was centralised which made working there unbearable. I left them to come back here into my current more senior roll in August 2007. My roll is a mixture of Technician and ICT Coordinator work, with SIMS, VLE development and a bit of teaching and covering of lessons thrown in for good measure. Anyone got a brush:p Nah, actually I love it - great little school and friendly staff, and the views...

superfletch Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 (edited) Hi, My real name is Matt and I work for a Local Authority (Boo Hiss - yeah whatever) providing MIS support to all our schools and 'proper IT support' to a smaller number (5 years). Personally I'm involved with 7 schools on a regular basis as the IT Technician for them, these are mostly Vanilla setups which I prefer but also one CC3 and one Viglen, these total 10 Servers and approximately 250 PC's. Our team is something of a one stop shop for ICT questions and support for schools if we can help we do and if not we find the people who can. Main interests in ICT are: Client - Server troubleshooting, Scripting (crap at it mind), Group Policy Implementation, Remote Support solutions. Been using Edugeek a while now but don't post that frequently - had some fantastic help from other members it's a great resource - well done to all the admins and moderators. Phil_pjb Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Hi all, I'm in a slightly awkward position, but i'll let you know what i've been up to. I have worked for my LA for 11 years now, primarily on Integris, we're just in the process of moving to INtegris G2 - I will be honest, I think it is a pile of sh1te for Secondary, but for the primary sector it is the perfect product. As I work for the LA, I directly support anything to do with the Admin computer within the school, this is a buyback feature but there are 2 of us to support the 65 schools we have. We have a very close working relationship with the school, bring them in for training, remote desktop support, onsite visits, even organise a christmas party for them all so they can all share their own experiences. In January 2008 I started the rollout of RM Kaleidos with all our RM Primaries, out SIMS Secondaries and the Manually provisioned PRU's, APP and EY's. This is also going well, the communications between the 2 major software suppliers and the VLE has had a few glitches, but nothing major. I am happy to share any experience I have gained over the previous years, additionally, if your school has Integris or INtegris G2 and only receives their support directly from RM, I'm looking to set up privately to provide the same support to other LA's as i do already to mine. Take care
