plexer Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I'm curious as to wether i could integrate this into our school intranet so that it would be on the homepage of the teachers intranet in an iframe - would this be achievable? All previous helpdesk solutions have had relativly little use due to staff having a "cant be bothered" attitude and would rather pickup the phone only for us to forget what they told us one 10 other people have asked us questions, the only way i can see something working for us is if it was a part of our home page for the users to add help requests I do exactly as Oz has said and use the helpdesk as their homepage. I use the weblink feature to provide them quick access links to webpages they need such as the vle, mis, google, email etc... I have still had an occasional person say they couldn't find the helpdesk Ben
vikpaw Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 There is no reason as to why this could not be done using an iframe or other means to embed the helpdesk webpage. With MLH i used a SharePoint Page Viewer Webpart for the helpdesk and that worked fine and that is all essentially an iframe does. also, with OPSmartDesk being based on templates you probably make it embed much smoother into an actual webpage. James. Oz told me that to make it look good in sharepoint, there's something you should add to the URL. it's the same thing that you will find if you load up on a mobile device. if you manually add this to the sharepoint web part url, then you will get the stripped down version and it will fit in better with whatever else is going on on the page. @Oz - Congrats! and thanks for the news on email process, i figured the download link would automatically be updated. just off to email now.

Yeah basically you use the Mobile Templates, As this is just a very basic template and allows it to appear in sharepoint okay. Works very well to be honest and the new version will be much easier for authentication also James.
Crispin Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Just received an email and am downloading as we speak. Thank you for working so hard on this Oz, I know you've probably been working all weekend to get this out to us and your efforts don't go unnoticed, despite our initial frustration! Thanks again, Chris 1
ICTNUT Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 Hi All, Just a quick update, after a LONG weekend we have cleared the back log and all those that have requested the LITE version should now have an email saying that thier account has been authorised for download. The online knowledge base on our support site has had new documentation added for installing this version so be sure to check it out --> https://opsoftware.ict-helpdesk.net/ I think it's time for an early night

vikpaw Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Hi Vik, I have just had your email resent, let me know that you got it OK. Thanks buddy, got it email yesterday, but was busy hoping to get it installed before reporting back then got sidetracked! By the way, as you sent the whole file, it got quarantined, don't know if that might affect others, or cause the email to go astray .... What's the upgrade path from Pro - Enterprise just a licence key? Anyway, once the legalities are sorted will you upgrade the links so we can pull down the full package? Thanks. Keep up the good work

Tricks Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Can anyone offer advice on how to get LDAP authentication working with OPSD? I've got other web tools that auth with AD fine but with the helpdesk I just get 'Invalid login details, please try again.' when I try and login. I can't see OPSD produces any errors/logs that I might use to narrow down the problem. I assume others have this up and running okay?

Make sure that the windows security group that you added in the web.config file is of the correct case as this is case sensative. Full instructions on setting up LDAP authentication can be found here: OP SmartDesk Knowledge Base Article
Crispin Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Make sure that the windows security group that you added in the web.config file is of the correct case as this is case sensative. Found this out the hard/embarassing way. Any news on the update re. incident queues/SLA's?
Kitkatninja Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 It doesn't look as if the system supports nested groups, eg staff1 is a member of staff_group, staff_group is a member of the helpdesk group. staff1 has to be a member of the helpdesk group directly. -Ken 2
ICTNUT Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Found this out the hard/embarassing way. Any news on the update re. incident queues/SLA's? Update is just being packaged and will be out just after lunch. Will post up on our support site (https://opsoftware.ict-helpdesk.net/) and Blog (OP Software Blog | OP Software - Solutions for Education) as soon as it is out. 1
