I was thinking of having a Samsung D900 but i guess this phone has been out a while now so there must be better. I have heard a lot of people raving about the Sony W8** series of phones but i am not after a phone for its Walkman like uses as i have a iPod fr that. I'd like a decent camera, good battery life, robust,etc I would quite like one with a Windows OS but would not know where to start to look for one. Any suggestions?

Quackers Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Nokia N95 ? You say you wanted a decent camera, it has a 5 Megapixel Carl Zeiss lens in it, and TV out. When i plugged it into the TV to playback a video it blew me away, my jaw dropped. Chuck your camcorder and digital camera away, its that good. The flash is blinding. The screen is massive for a mobile, built in stereo speakers which are quite loud, built in satnav, with voice navigation, and its light too and no bigger than a Nokia N80, infact its slimmer. Has a 3Dfx card in to so people can program graphics intense games for it. It says the persons name when they call too, so it play a tune, fade the music out say "Dave" then fade the music back in, a HTML Browser with Java and Flash support, QuickOffice, Adobe Reader. But the good thing is it still a mobile and not a massive PDA with a big bludge sticking out of your pocket. I do not know how they can fit so much kit on such a small device. Can you tell Nokia gave me one for free for being part of Nokia's feedback study group?

Ric_ Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 @Quackers: No bulge in your pants eh? I know my Motorola Krazr is quite nice. It was cheap, is small and doesn't do any pointless stuff. If I want to take pics I will use my camera (although the camera does seem pretty good), I I want PDA functions I will use my PDA and if I want office apps I will use my laptop or desktop. All I wanted was a small phone with bluetooth so that I could use a headset (which the phone came with incidentally) and connect it to my PDA if I ever do want to surf the web via GPRS... incidentally the lovely people at Mozilla have produced a PDA version of their browser called Minimo.

They gave me the phone for FREE, 900mins any net any time, 300 texts, free unlimited calls to either orange mobiles or landlines at any time of the day (not taken out of ya 900, but you have to choose either/or) a selected "Magic Number" and Free Broadband all for £30 per month, the Free Broadband is limited to 2MB speed and 2GB a month, But I choose to pay £5 a month and get unlimited download and 8MB speed. The package should be £45, but they done it for £30 for me, for the duration of my contract, and that was direct with Orange, not these back street firms advertising in the back of the sun or daily starr!!!

philtomo Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 mattpant - i recently had the nokia n80, absolutely top phone, just one thing i would like to ask you - have they improved the battery life, i.e how often do you need to charge it? got rid of my n80 on ebay cos i was getting so sick off charging it up, probably charged it up every other day!! the n95 look absolutely sweet tho!! phil
Southwell Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 I like my N73. Mine crashed everytime i sent a message and would take a few mins to come back to life. I did a firmware upgrade yesterday (from V2 to V3) and it's superb now, i recommend this phone! 8)

Combine it with Tmobile's unlimited data tariff for £7.50 a month and you cant go wrong. Given it's relatively small size , 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth, touch-screen, full qwerty keyboard and windows mobile it's an awesome piece of kit.
