The Walking Dead Season 2 - grrrr's

Is it just me or do the "veteran" zombie killers from season 1 seem to be getting dumberer and dumberer!

we seem to have established these zombies are attracted to sounds and the sight of humans, not smell or the blood or anything else. so when the rambling horde approach them on a blocked highway, they hide under cars....because zombies NEVER fall over and might see them.

why not, instead, get in the hundreds of cars littered about and just sit there motionless with the windows up?

 

secondly, the deputy sheriff (can't remember his name atm) is so keen to go it alone, yet when going to get medical supplies he throws a couple of flares to distract zombies, then nips into a portable building. he then looks amazed when opening the door 5 mins later, striding out and being faced with said zombies back stumbling around.

what was he expecting them to do after the flares died out? did he not have a plan for what they would do AFTER they opened the door? no, it appears instead he would run the opposite direction to their escape route, he wouldn't fire a gun despite hundreds of zombies already knowing he is there, and would then trap himself in another area.

again, why not just crack the door open a bit, fire off a few more flares and then make a run for it....still a chance of being seen but much less than busting out like duke nukem then running around in circles!

 

 

yes, i know its tv and its meant to be situations like that to increase tension etc. but he is portrayed as the one who kept the camp running while they all thought the sheriff was dead, yet displays no idea of a plan when going into a heavily zombified (yes, its a word!!!!) area.

the only one showing any consistency in his actions is the redneck brother. he only fights with silent weapons, he doesn't mess about and he acts rather than whimpering about.

oh yeah dont get me wrong, i love the show. it's just the annoying things like that when i start rooting for the zombies

First episode of season 1 was epic, but then it died off a bit. Last episode was good though.

 

Might strain myself to watch the 2nd series.

So far the second series is going the way of lost, calming the whole thing down and making it a bit less enjoyable to watch. Fingers crossed it picks up a bit though.

I watched all of Lost, think I might give this up now!!

I gave up on lost during its 3rd year, when they said they had only been on the island for 3 months. all they kept showing was flash backs gah!

Hats off to Andrew Lincoln though, great actor and great accent!!!

 

I agree I have been peed off so far with their stupidness...

 

Oh and on that last episode... when did the WD zombies learn to RUN???

Seems to me that many of these multi part programmes need to be writted with the end in mind. The recent Hidden starring Philip Glenister and many other great actors being a prime example. To me the first episode was watchable but not edge of seat stuff, episode two was absolutley fabulous but the final part completely ran out of steam and failed to present the gripping conclusion it needed.

Did anyone see the finale of season 2 the other night? I have a tendency to fast forward past some of the earlier episodes as there is far too much talking and not enough zombie action... and I hate the english actors American accent.

 

The final bit with the girl and the swords and the armless zombies... WOW.... it was like from another show entirely, and the prison will be rather cool for the next season.

 

Stopping myself reading the comics to get get ahead.

That’s a common misconception and shows how bad the ending was. No one was dead for the most part. The end takes place years in the future when they all meat up in the afterlife/limbo area to move on together. So they are all dead at the end but the time spent on the Island was very much with them alive.

 

Lost has one of the worst endings ever with nothing explained.

I fail to understand how rotting corpses can see, hear and smell - they are rotting. We already know that they are zombified by a brain infection. By nature the hearing functionalities of the host corpse are reliant on a) the ability of the brain to process sounds that are collected by the ear, b) the ability of the ear to collect sound. Since the corpses are rotting, it is reasonable to assume that the tiny bones of the inner ear and more crucially the ear drum are irrepairably compromised. Similarly, rotten or missing eyes cannot see and the brain cannot interpret what the glazed over or missing eyes are seeing anyway. So how can the zombies 'see'?

 

Since the original deaths followed a long period of snotty horrible infection, it is reasonable to assume the mucous membranes were compromised by the infection. Therefore how does the zombie smell??? Since many also seem to be missing their lower jaws or half the face, again I don't understand how the body can function in a way the host organism can use.

 

Lets not get me started on why they are eating - what is the point on eating human/animal gizzards (and they seem to focus on the intestines a lot) when the rotting corpse stomachs and intestinal tract no longer function? What purpose does it serve?

 

That said, redneck with the crossbow is by far the best and most sensible character. Which begs the question of why he is hanging around with a bunch of people that are proven more of a liability and risk than travelling alone?

 

I think I might have overthought the whole 'zombie' thing in this context lol. Pfft, suspend disbelief? Me? Noooo...

Must say, I could have done with fewer shows in series 2, but the final 2 more than made up for it.

Got a bit annoyed in the last episode - Rick shouldnt have told them he killed Shane - there was no need to do that - and why didnt he just say that he hadnt told them what that woman said about everyone being infected because he had no proof and thought she was hysterical...

Apparently his American accent is still being hailed as a triumph in the USA

Yeah, apparently he uses that accent off set as well so as his fellow actors don't get confused?!?! As for the show, well I think they sometimes just need a device that leads them around a hole in the plot, and I think they have been trying to drive wedges between the characters for a few weeks now, particularly with him.
