sarahsims Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Hi all, Can anyone confirm that they are using Discover? Many thanks Sar
sefton Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 We've got it installed and running ready for the first assessment data.
Iain.Faulkner Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 We're in the same boat, I have it installed on a handful of machines being tested by one of our Deputy Head's
Stuart_C Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Yep. Looks cool. Some of the Pre-admin graphs don't work but I'll see what Capita say about it, it might be me...
ellisteph10 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Where do you get the SIMS Discover setup file from?
vikpaw Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 (edited) Where do you get the SIMS Discover setup file from? supportnet - though it's being flaky at the mo. Edit: [h=2]KB109213[/h] Edited September 19, 2011 by vikpaw add KB for supportnet 2
Edu-IT Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 supportnet - though it's being flaky at the mo. Edit: KB109213 Not finding anything for that KB?
vikpaw Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Not finding anything for that KB? Where or how are you looking? By KB number it pops straight up, or do a search under SIMS .Net for "Discover" - it's near the bottom of the results, search for "discover iso" it's the second result. It's entitled, "what is the url for discover". PM with your supportnet username / email, and i can message you through there. Can't publish details here in public
Edu-IT Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Got it, cheers. Is Discover actually a useable product now?
PhilNeal Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Absolutely - I have one quote saying it's better than xxx. I didn't believe that however! 1
Edu-IT Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Haha! We don't seem to have been given it yet to use. Why are we last on the wagon? :-D Is there something LA support need to prepare?
PhilNeal Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 LAs that host SIMS aren't able to go live until the autumn release - that could be the problem.
MYK-IT Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Meant to be getting installed here this week! (first i've heard of it )
Edu-IT Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 LAs that host SIMS aren't able to go live until the autumn release - that could be the problem. We have SIMS installed locally. Surely we should be able to run with it then?
PhilNeal Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 From our point of view you should be OK to run with it. It is part of the curriculum suite. It could be your local team needs a little more time or they are waiting for the autumn release as this makes installs easier.
vikpaw Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 We have SIMS installed locally. Surely we should be able to run with it then? Just download it from SupportNet and install, it doesn't have to go on the SIMS server. You should be able to have a play.
Edu-IT Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 It needs an SQL database and stuff though right, and to be able to export data from SIMS, so SIMS server is best place for it? Also, there's a patch I think I need to run to clean the data?
vikpaw Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 No, i wouldn't overload the SIMS server with it. Test it on a separate box. If you have VMs then that's perfect. The cleaning patch is only for Spring release users. Stop putting it off and download the manual
apeo Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 (edited) Can I confirm that we dont need the patch if we are on 7.140? Edited October 24, 2011 by apeo
GazN Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Can I confirm that we dont need the patch if we are on 7.140? If your database is on Summer 2011 (7.140) then you don't need to run the patch. 1
vikpaw Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Can I confirm that we dont need the patch if we are on 7.140? Aye, Spring release only as far as i know. 1
