  1. We had an issue as well and found that we needed to give users full control over the SIMS folder in Program Files and to take the UAC to minimum control. We have it running on Windows 8 tablets now.
  2. We have 2 schools which merged over the summer but are on 2 seperate sites. The database sits on a single server so that both schools can access it, (this server is not on either site). The teachers access SIMS through a shortcut on their desktop which will take them through a Remote desktop session straight to the SIMS login screen. We now have a problem where the secretaries can't see the new folder structure on the server and so can't save files to them. Is there a way in which the schools can see this new structure ? Thanks
  3. We ahd this issue in some of our schools, 1 rebooted their server and said it fixed the issue. Another tried a couple of times and it started working and we also added the CommandTimeout command to the connect.ini file. Not sure if this will help you but it could be worth trying them.
  4. Hi hoping someone can give me some advice. We are about to merge 2 schools and put the database on a single server, the schools will eventually be joined with a 10Meg link. I was wondering what the best solution would be i.e. server in 1 school and the other school connecting to it or the server at the council building and both schools connecting to it ? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
  5. My problem was not having added the Report Execution manager group and permissions in system manager 6. When this was done it all worked.
  6. I think I hadn't setup the permissions right in system manager 6. Thanks
  7. Thanks to everyone how has helped me, I've finally got the reports to run.
  8. I'm still having problems, the account to run the tasks is a local administrator and the SIMS account is our LA account which is System Manger/School Administrator level
  9. I was wondering if any one had an success running SIMS scheduled reports ? I have a school asking for them to be set up and have followed the set up instructions I received from Capita support but the reports don't seem to be running on the server. Not sure where I'm going wrong. Thanks
  10. Sophos do an encryption program which will allow a laptop disc to be encrypted. We have used it on XP only, not tried it on Windows 7.
  11. I have a script that I downloaded that you run using DBDiagnose.exe which will tell you which patches have been applied to the database. There is also a utility under user posts (870) on Capiat's web site which does a similar thing.
  12. We have a few schools which are still using 2003 and they haven't reported any issues since the upgrade
  13. We have emerge in 3 of our schools running on ipads and they have no problems with the proxy server settings
  14. We have been asked to block access to the site by several of our High Schools.
  15. I've just looked at the Technical Essentials handbook and page 48 says to run DBUpgrade using SA account or someone who has System Manager ACCESS RIGHTS. It doesn't say to run it as sysman.
  16. Just to add to your post make sure when you run sqlapplicationsetup you point it at the Binn folder of your current sql installation
  17. I've run this patch several times through DBUpgrade and have always logged using my sa account and it has worked.

    B2B

Hi I've had this same problem in several schools and the solution I found was to run SQLApplicationsetup from the SIMS Setups folder and point it to the BINN folder of the SQL Instance you are using on the server. This worked for about 16 schools which weren't generating B2B files, on 1 school I did have to detach and reattach the database for B2B to start running again. Hope this helps you
  19. With the help of Capita we have fixed a Discover transfer problem we were having. There is a timeout value which needed to be increased and a patch which then needed to be re-applied and this seems to have fixed the failed transfer problem.
  20. I've finally got the PC in our training room working. What I did was remove Discover and reinstall it from 7.138 disc with a new database name and then upgrade it to 7.142 then 7.144 via the discs. Not the easiest way of fixing the problem but it has fixed it eventually.
  21. Glad to hear it's not just me with this problem. A PC in our training room has the same problem, I've removed Discover and reinstalled it but it still thinks there is a transfer going on. I'm going to remove SIMS and Discover and reinstall both to see if it fixes the issue.
  22. I've recently installed this on on a few PC's in different schools without any major headaches. I've also imported keys which was a very simple process. Overall it was easier than I thought it would be.
  23. If your database is on Summer 2011 (7.140) then you don't need to run the patch.
