Does anyone have this installed? If so how does it work for you? We've installed this and all it does is dump an exe into program files, which when launched will create a content directory in users home directory. Is there a way to get it to install the content directly in program files? as it does this for every user. Tried to get Lego support but really hard to get them to respond and cant get in touch with actual support just customer service.

Can Edge and Chrome share the same cache?

Interesting thought on issuing each student with a keyboard (and mouse potentially), is it me or would this not work for laptops? i.e. keyboard is not the only point of contact, all over the case, the point at which you lift the lid etc.

This has probably been asked a before so if it has, my apologies but does anyone have any advise on courses/training providers for this certification path?
-
Thanks for the info, I will look into it.

Thanks for the info guys, and I've been doing some research (google fu) on WinTACS and it seems that its written for Tower and Integra systems. That in mind I think i need to look for software that supports those systems, dont think thats going to be easy.
-
Not sure exactly how I got myself into this but somehow I'm now involved in looking at options for our Door Security system. Basically the school is looking at replacing/upgrading the door security software (currently WinTACS), and are looking at what is possible. As you can tell I have no idea whats available on the market and I dont know if the software are proprietary (i.e. software will only work with hardware from the company and vice versa). What do you guys use? and how does it work?

Sorry, didn't read that bit because I thought it was part of you signature . Assume your users are on Windows 7, here we've had some funny problems with bat scripts so we generally use vbscripts and/or powershell. Funny thing is sometimes we use vbscripts to launch the shell.
-
What happens when you login as a user and run the script in cmd?

Correct me if I'm wrong but ADFS does not sycn password, and should you lose connection to your ADFS servers then O365 will not be able to authenticate users. I was curious to if @zag had a means to sync that passwords or just lived with users maintaining separate accounts.
-
@zag: Can I assume that users maintain separate accounts i.e. 1 for O365 and 1 for internal network so if password changes on one account it doesnt affect the other? Or do you use a third party solution or something to sync the password?

Setting folder security and share permissions automatically
apeo replied to Dragon's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Could you not just add to your script so it not only create the folders but also applies the appropriate permissions on them. I suspect you need to use an application like icacls.exe to set the permissions however, depending on what script language you're using. -
Given that this thread seems to be dead, it can be deleted.

We have appdata redirected here and we have an issue with some folders being deleted in appdata and then fail to recreate it with the following error: Failed to apply policy and redirect folder "RoamingAppData" to "\\SERVER\AppData\USERNAME\Application Data". Redirection options=0x80009001. The following error occurred: "Can not create folder "\\SERVER\AppData\USERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP"". Error details: "This file is currently not available for use on this computer. ". This is not the first time this has happend and the last time I just created a folder called STARTUP. Folder redirection started working again but I dont know why the system decided to delete it and now cant recreate it. Any ideas?

Useful website for ICT admins or ICT teachers
apeo replied to mattbeighton's topic in Web Development
Didnt work when I tried it. -
I'm not so much concerned about adding a phrase but I wouldnt want to add an email as that means all emails from that sender is bypassed. Just curious as to why it was tagged as junk/spam and it means any further scripts will probably require more phrases added.
-
Seems the best solution I can come up with, is to add the first sentence as an Allowed Phrase.
-
All of them and I did test with the sender in the exception list of Content Filtering but that didnt seem to do anything. Not sure how some automated/scripted emails are unfiltered but others are. EDIT: Actually come to think of it, I havent set the sender in the exceptions list but this does mean no emails are filtered by this email so am hoping for a better solution.

Enforce the policy.
